Energy doesn't kill....penetration/bullet expansion, Destroying tissue: lungs/heart etc...Does kill.
Like I said before, what in the minimum impact velocity of your hunting bullet?
That's what I work off of.
If you choose another route, fine with me.

If you don't know your actual MV, then everything is guessing, unless you actually confirm your drops at distance.
I don't do holdovers...Not accurate past a certain distance.
I dial or use a reticle in MOA or MIL to be precise
My longest pd kill is over a mile.

100 grain Sierra at 3000 fps
Drop and drift in inches
300 yards 9.7 for drop and 4.3 inches for a 10 mph full value wind
400 yards 23 and 10.7
500 43.1 and 17.4
600 71.2 and 26.1

6 creed with the 108 ELD-M at 3000 fps-Mine is actually 3110 with the 115 DTAC
300 9.2 and 4.5
400 21.5 and 8.2
500 39.9 and 13.2
600 64.9 and 19.5

My actual performance/MV with the 115 6XC
300 8.1 and 3.9
400 19 and 7
500 35.4 and 11.2
600 57.6 and 16.5
These are true drops out to 1600 yards

Wind becomes the issue, as many are not good at it, as you go further
3000 is a little slow for 6mm Remington at 100 gr.
I didn't know my muzzle velocity for sure, but I am left here to contemplate it while the prairie dog is no longer with us.

Please understand I have no need to shoot at any deer with a 24 cal. outside of 375 ish yds.

I am not suggesting that you should.
I just gave information/ballistic info.
Distance is a systems approach, and everyone has their own preferences and abilities. I am not going to tell you what you should do or not do.

I added 30 fps from what factory listed for the 243 Win.
One thing you will likely notice if you chrono 243 vs 6mm Rem loads is that the heavier the bullet, the bigger the difference in favor of 6mm Rem. With 100 gr. it canb pushed well over 243 Win velocities without pressure signs.
Also beware at least 2 gun writers have documented some odd pressure variations when loading 243 Win. This does not happen in 6mm Remington.

I already mentioned the Rem should do better with heavier bullets.
One of the limitations of that would be mag length...IF so it may be a mute point, or not as much , if it was throated longer

Mag length depends on the rifle. Savage short actions give you 3". Rem 700 are the shortest.
I think the ideal twist for 6mm Rem. is 1-9 or 1-9.5
I had a 1-10 that would not stabilize rhe 90 Swift Scirrocco.
If you are trying to go super sleek, target shooting with it the might as well do AI or better yet do a wildcat off of the 284.

Off topic more, but target shooting/competitions at 600 (Bench and F-Open) like small cases: 6 BR, 6 Dasher, 6 BRA, 6 GT (Gay Tiger), and 6.5x47 Lapua.
1K Bench: 6 BR, 6 Dasher, 6 BRA, 6 GT (Gay Tiger...new cartridge), 6.5x47 Lapua, and 300 WSM.
1K F-Open: 284 Win, 284 Shehane, 7 SAUM, 300 WSM.
There are others but these are primary cartridges, and they are primarily in single-shot actions. So, you can throat them accordingly.
These are all fast twist barrels.
