Smith and Wesson M41 ammunition sensitivity?

Ya, not doing the competition thing, just want it for more serious personal plinking and because of the overall quality of the gun.
Basically why I got mine when a good deal came along. You'll never be sorry you bought it and will enjoy it as long as you stick around here on mother earth. My younger son loves it and wants me to give it to him, and while that has worked for a couple of things (Think M1 Garand), he'll have to wait till I croak for the 41.

$750 cash, though I have a few trades he may consider too.

That is a deal, assuming it is in good to excellent condition. There is an excellent array of aftermarket accessories for the M41. I recently purchased some beautiful Thai Rosewood grips, very reasonably priced. I like the slight differences in feel. Magazines are not a wallet breaker, not like Colt Woodsman or High Standard magazines. I have no idea what a five round Pardini, Benelli or Feinwabu magazine costs, but I will bet they start around $75.00.Just looked up the price of a Feinwerkbau AW93 magazine, $90.90 plus $27 shipping! Of course sight bases are available for M41's, and I have purchased M41 parts like extractors, extractor springs, mainsprings. Maybe I will need them, maybe not! I do replace mainsprings along with recoil springs, they all wear out and I don't want misfires during timed or rapid fire.

I don't know what breaks on these pistols. The recoil spring wears out, but all recoil springs wear out. I meet guys who wear out 1911 sears and hammers, so on my 1911 and M41'/M46's I always put a drop of LSA (or oil) on the hammer engagement surfaces. Compared to the 1911 22lr conversion kits the Master Class guys are using, my M41/M46 is quite trouble free. During the season count down to the National Matches many of the Master Class shooters use dedicated 1911 lowers with 22lr uppers. This is so they do not have to change grip, stance, trigger pull. After the National Matches they will play around with their favorite toys, just like everyone else.

Personally, owning a couple of the things, I have discounted any suggestion that they are "finicky", "unreliable", etc.

I put a buffer in mine just because they are available. It doesn't affect function at all and prevents any battering even with SV.
I need to dig it out and shoot it. A buddy of mine sold his and has been looking ever since.

Made the deal, thanks for the input, everybody. Hope I got a good one.:)

Oh, if anybody has a 7" barrel for sale, PM me, thx!
Sweet looking M41. Mine ran flawlessly on CCI SV and was extremely accurate.
Check out the for sale section at the bullseye l forum. I think there are a couple of barrels up for sale right now.
FWIW mine didn't shoot much different between the 5.5 or 7" barrels. It was more about balance between the 2.
