What does it cost to go to the range in your neck of the woods?

I belong to a local private indoor pistol club with three ranges. It is open to the public on Sundays for $20 a person. As a member ($228 per year, plus you must be an NRA member) you have unlimited 24/7, 365 days a year access unless the club is having a competition event or is undergoing some renovation or something similar.

For those that frequent shooting ranges that charge a fee, what does it cost to go to a range in your neck of the woods?

Here (Central Coast of California) it's $20.00/day (08:00-4:00 PM) or $10.00/day for club members ($70.00/year.) That includes paper targets, along with steel targets.
$7.50. All day.

FWC range is 30 miles away. Gas $10, range fee (50 ft, 25 yd pistol, 100& 200yd rifle) $12.90. I usually get 2 18" ShootnSee 18" targets for another $6, bring my own printed pistol targets. Add in $40-$100 ammo and it's "fancy dinner for 2 price." Joe

$85 a year, unlimited use, and then a charge for special events. For example, I pay $4 a week to shoot steel challenges. In winter, we shoot indoors, a .22 bullseye type shoot for the same price, I believe. Love it that the club has a new segregated pistol area, so the rifle shooters don't have to stop. Rifle distances are 25, 50, 100, 300, and 600 yards. Shotgun and archery, also.

$75 per year and must be an NRA member. There's a $100 joining fee the first year.

There are a couple of indoor ranges, but I've never inquired about how much they are, as I have no desire to shoot indoors.

Indoor ranges are $25 with half price days during the week. They are popular, but not my cup of tea. Outdoor we have WMA ranges for rifle, trap, and pistol just need a hunting license (cheapest is $11.45 for resident wildlife heritage license, non-residents can get a $18.40 wma permit). There are some forest service ranges around as well which can be used free with a hunting license or $2 per day fee.

A lot of times it's free because I'll do some shooting when we're out camping somewhere in the forest. If I'm just going out to shoot from my house, the cost is the diesel I burn up running about 20 minutes out in the desert to get to where the BLM land is open for shooting rifles and shotguns. I prefer that to going to an actual range.

Missouri Dept of Conservation range: $4.00 for first hour on rifle/ pistol range, supervised, targets provided. $3.00 per 25 clay birds on the MDC trap and skeet ranges. MDC also provides unsupervised ranges nearby at no charge. (Pleasant Hope and Busiek conservation areas). Two local gun stores have supervised indoor ranges; all day pass is $21 on one, $17 on the other. Bass Pro has an indoor range but I don’t talk about them. Sporting clays available in Branson, but it’s been years and I don’t know the charge— but it’s reasonable.

I love living in flyover country!

I have membership to a really great outdoor club. Numerous pistol ranges from 10 yds to 30yds. Rifle ranges from 50 yds to 500yds. Gongs at 200 and 300 yds. Shotgun range is limited to throw-it-yourself clays. Good club house for meetings and such. All this for seniors is $60 per year. $100 for everyone else. Really affordable and well maintained. I go every week, sometimes 2-3 times per week. In bad weather less often.

The city maintained range less than 10 miles from me is absolutely free and unmonitored. Nice place. BUT, I was recently granted access to a private range less than 2 miles up the street, where generally I have the place to myself as long as I want. Longest shot is about 200 yards, but I can't see that far anyway.

$70/year for my favorite range across the bridge in Wisconsin, $50 at my local range in Minnesota.
Heat not included.

$45 a month to an exclusive club that rival the capabilities of most Special Operations training compounds, including shoot houses and a 900 yard ability. I go once a week, so its worth every penny.

Western Wisconsin, brand new outdoor NRA approved 100 yard rifle & 25yard pistol range. Annual membership is 25 dollars plus 5 dollars for each range session. Range officers on duty and running firing line. 4 hour time limit if others aren't waiting in line or 2 hours if folks are waiting. hdbiker

At my club here in the UK it is an annual fee of £150. That's limited to Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings. Wednesday evening is air-pistol only and Sundays are mornings until 13.30.
If you want to shoot outside of those hours you have to get your own insurance and pay a deposit for a gate key.
The range is in a residential area and there are restrictions (no fullbore on site and shotguns are limited to bird shot).
For fullbore the club members book a range at Bisley.

$16/hr. closest pistol range. non-member rate. Think members get a cut on the rate to $12/hr, for a $160 annual membership fee.

There a number of options in my area.

An hour or more away are some Forestry Service ranges up to 100 yds that are free but they are isolated and sometimes trashed.

Within an hour there is a Game & Fish Commission range with pistol, shotgun and rifle to 200 yds for minimal cost. <$10

There is another Game and Fish range that is a joint venture with a nearby city that is shotgun only. Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays. Don't know costs but since public shouldn't be terrible.

There are two private ranges about 30-45 minutes from me.

One is a world class pistol facility with a 200 yd rifle range. Costs are prohibitive for me but a discount is offered if you shoot enough IDPA or USPSA matches.

The one I belong to has a $100 initiation fee and is $75 a year plus a discount for seniors. Rifle to 600 yards, silhouette ranges, plinking, action pistol, and basic shotgun.

Then there are two indoor ranges. The cheaper one is $12.50 per day. It is not well climate controlled - no AC and limited heat. The other is $15.00 per day and well climate controlled. If they get too busy both may ask you to take a break and resume when things slow down.

There are a couple more private ranges about an hour away but I know very little about them although I know one offers cowboy action.

ETA - I forgot there is the Remington trap & skeet range nearby too. Don't know how much but AFAIK it's affordable.

Closest range to the house is 5-6 miles. 100 yard max range. Outdoors. Covered shooting benches. $10 per day non members. $60 or so for annual membership. Well run public range. No limit for how many guns you can bring/ shoot.

For comparison: a private range just outside San Antonio in 1998 was 10$ to use range. $1 per paper target you bought off them (no using your own targets) and $5 for each additional gun.

I also have the option to drive 30 miles and shoot on National forest land.

Here in KCMO I belong to Pioneer Gun Club. $200.00 (plus NRA membership) per year includes indoor range available 24 hrs and an out door range with trap, 2 rifle ranges out to 200 yrds, 5 pistol ranges including a 24 steel plate range. No extra charges and I usually bring a guest or two.

The indoor range does have organized activities several nights a week. Otherwise its come when you want.

Gas. and 45 minutes of travel time. That's it. And you can have a 1000 yard range if you want.

If you need to shoot sooner, you can pay a $10 range fee for an indoor range.

We went from a bunch of outdoor ranges to no ranges to a single indoor range in my area.

Unlike a couple of previous places, they're friendly, have decent hours, a nice range (could use a little more AC in the summer, though), they don't care what kind of ammunition you bring, and they have no problem with practicing double-taps when shooting.

Cost is $15. It's good all day, though they'll ask you to take a break and let someone else have a chance if you've been at it more than an hour at a time and there are people waiting.

They seem to have a steady flow of customers, mostly middle-aged or seniors, and an astonishing (to me, anyway) percentage of couples.

It's a nice place and I hope they stay in business a long time.
