Your perfect duty pistol and backup?

I’ll see your “a few more rounds” and raise you even more rounds. I’ve been carrying a Roland Special on duty for two years now and just added a sig p365 BUG. Before that it was a no lock smith and Wesson 442-1.

Might be the most pointless thread ever. Who is gonna carry those pistols with optics on them and big heavy 1911s?

Get a Glock 22 with night sights and a Ruger LCP as a BUG.

I carried a 1911 for years (no lights or optics), and still do carry one around the farm. The right belt and holster combo makes a world of difference. I've always liked the slim profile AND it's what I shoot best and train the most with. That's what counts imo.

I never have and never will be in law enforcement but I can’t really imagine a better combination than what is all the rage these days... pick a brand... full size 9mm with full sized mags and a miniaturized version as backup which takes the same mags.

SIG P-226 Legion SAO w/Trijicon RMR and Surefire XC2 in a Safariland ALS holster.

SIG P-365 for the BUG.
almost the same for me:
Sig P226 Legion SAO w/Romeo and TLR-1

(have you been able to find an ALS holster that fits the P226 with red dot and light?????
the suppressor sights on mine make it not fit in a standard ALS light compatible holster...)

Sig P239 as BUG (i know it's a little big but...)

Yes, many years ago a 1911 was not a bad option for duty, but as with many things, technology has improved. There are MANY options out there for duty carry that are vastly superior to a 1911. Reason that the US military went away from 1911s to something else. There might have been some PDs that carried 1911s, but I am sure they were few.

Please understand I'm not qualified to respond to this.

Question:
If the trend is away from backup guns would a higher capacity like the 20 round CZ P-09 be seen as advantageous?
