Favorite carry gun

Now that colder weather is coming and it's possible to wear a second shirt over my t-shirt and long pants I'll likely break out the old Brauer Brothers shoulder holster and carry one of my 1903s under a loose shirt. Currently it is carried either in a pocket of my cargo shorts or Open Carry OWB in a Hunter 1100 or a Fobus paddle holster.

I don't open carry so its seasonal concealed carry for me. Warm weather usually means my Kahr CM9 or else my S&W Model 638. With cooler weather I might go with my S&W Model 649 or else my Ruger SR9c or maybe a 1911.

I have edited Post #6 to add the following:

"Shoot well" means shooting rapidly with control.

A minimum of six rounds, but preferably more.

No separate operation necessary to disengage a safety, unless it is a 1911 type with disengagement occurring during presentation.

Pocket carry, mostly in a Desantis Nemesis:
CA Undercover 5-shot or Smith M37 Airweight in warm wxr
Glock 43
CA Police Undercover 6-shot in cool wxr
Shield 40 or G19 while hunting (big pockets)
Used to carry a Kahr K9 in a FIST IWB kydex. Heavy but accurate.

Handgun acquisition/trade entails lots of paperwork here in NY, so the new stuff isn't quickly adopted nor the old stuff traded.

Really like the pictures. Understand better with them. I'll put one of my own up. Oh I forgot to mention that it has a Crimson Trace laser.

Next question is more specific...where on your person do you carry concealed?

I'm not familiar with most of these model numbers you guys are using. I'm sort of new. I know what a 1911 looks like and I think a 365 is a 9mm and I know mine. I'm here to learn. Oh I also have shot 460 480 and 500 and .40s&w and judge. I also know the g is for Glock but no idea what a 26 etc means.

Sorry man, here's a pic of my Glock 26 (G26, sub-compact 9mm) with Tritium night sights. I also carry a small .380 caliber handgun ( Kel-Tec P3AT) in my pocket all the time even when at home. Always concealed. The holster is a Crossbreed Supertuck (CBST) for inside the waistband carry (IWB). I usually carry around 3 o'clock when having to drive as 4 o'clock get in the way more when seated. I always carry the knife too (Spyderco C07 Police model)

Ruger LC9 Pro. Compact 9MM. It has no safety and an outstanding trigger. Loaded it weighs 22 ozs. Body shape dictates light weight. I started with heavy stuff like a 1911 and Ruger SR40. It came down to suspenders or lighten the weight. I just received the holster from a ebay seller yesterday.

Sometimes this Taurus model 85 Ultra Lite. 38 SPL, 17 ozs empty. The holster is a Simply Ruger pancake.

I really only have two pistols for daily CC, a Shield and an LCR. I carry the Shield more than the LCR, so I guess the Shield is my favorite. My G19 is occasionally drafted back into duty if I go on a trip, but that's pretty rare.

As far as open carry, I only open carry in farm or woods settings.

I don't have a "favorite" carry gun.

The gun that I carry the most is a Glock 26. Usually in a Galco CM because that's what my concealment needs dictate

When all else fails I carry a cat in a bag

I don't open carry under any circumstances and I wouldn't carry a Judge if it were the only gun on the planet

"cat in a bag." I love that. :)

An LCP is my "new" favorite carry gun, at least it has been since I got my 9 year old Gen 2 LCP replaced by Ruger. I used to only carry the LCP when I needed something very discreet, otherwise I'd carry a j-frame in my pocket or a MK9 appendix. The reason was my old LCP was wildly inaccurate past 5 yards so I avoided it 98% of the time. But I can shoot my new LCP as well (or better) as my j-frame and almost as well as the Kahr, plus for as much time as I spend sitting pocket carry works better for me (fully understanding it's downfalls).

Whenever a to thread like this comes up, I'm amazed by the number of people who carry a Shield and/or LCP still... Even after all the years they've been out and all the new kids on the block since then.

Last I heard, the Shield sales were past 3 million. I wonder how many LCPs Ruger sold? If I owned Kel Tec, I'd be very peeved off.

I own both and there's gotta be many millions of both of them in circulation. Neither is the latest and greatest anymore but they're both very well suited to their intended roles. I wouldn't trade my Shield straight up for a P365. I give up a few rounds but in return I get a dead nuts reliable pistol. I'll take that over sexy any day. The LCP is obviously more about concealment but I'm surprisingly accurate with it and honestly despite the complaints so many have about the trigger, I think it's about perfect for a pocket pistol without a manual safety. I say about because of that double reset...

Kimber Ultra CDP II, .45 ACP, carried it for 17 years, now. OWB, Don Hume JIT Slide and Kel-Tec P32 in a Pro-Tech pocket holster, always.

Those two are somewhat similar in size and capacity. How do you decide which you want to carry on a particular day?
The Sig is smaller and holds 8 rounds of 9mm.

The XDs holds 6 rounds of 45 acp. If I’m gonna be sweating and mobile, the plastic fantastic gets carried. I like a little more thump for animals, so the 45 works.

If it’s not such a sweaty affair, I carry the Sig.

I also carry a P30SK in winter.

I should have figured the XDs was in 45

My daily carry is a Vickers edition Glock 17 with a TLR 1.

I know what you're thinking, the 19 is smaller, but I never carry it because I don't like the way my pinkie hangs off the end of the grip. I use the Bravo Concealment holster with the pancake loops so it tucks in real close. That, combined with a lose fitting shirt, and I'm good. Plus I love the feel of the Vickers edition frame better than the normal Glock frames.
