This buck passed by this camera about once per week in September. Hope he keeps that up into November when crossbow starts. Any estimates on how big this bear is? Also, any idea what that coyote has in its mouth? It passed downhill followed by two pups and then 30 min later this photo of it running uphill.

Nice pics. Any idea what the coyote is carrying? Looks like it could be a deer head???
Sorry, just the coyote hunter coming out. Oops, I confess, guilty of looking at pics before reading text. Looks to me like it might be a deer head, tapered to black (nose?).

Know nothing about bears, but did notice the bear's rump is a tad higher than the buck's belly based on height of bush in foreground in comparable pictures. That might give you a clue???

Good catch. I'll see what I can find on sizing a bear based on rump height. I think it is a decent size. Body looks "full" or round rather than long like deer or a dog.

It is a nice lookin' bear....pretty coat! Let us know if you find out what that coyote is carrying.

ETA: Based on your timer, looks like if you go sit aroung 3:30 PM to 6, you'd have a good chance to see somenthing. :)

hps

Switched the card in my camera last Thursday. Only three whitetails not worth posting here. A doe, fawn and a little forkhorn

Pictures were mostly of these two, a cow and last year's calf taking a break, triggering the camera often.

And then this little guy showed up..... after what, I do not know, but it is during the time of year that the rut is on.;)

Hopefully, more pix to come!

By the way, I see my A.M. & P.M. are backwards.......:uhoh:

Unfortunately most of these won't make it past this year, hunters will shoot them for the meat and antlers thrown in a corner of someones garage. It would be ideal to have these get a couple more years of growth on them. Not everyone has the foresight to let them go. We are truly blessed to have some nice deer.

Finally got several little bucks on camera but this is the best so far. I'll pass on him this year. I have two culls that are on the hit list though. One has a G1 that is about 10" but goes straight back. The other looks like an offspring of a cull that I took two years ago. He has 3 points going straight up on the right and a spike with a knot on top on the left. IMG_0222 (2).JPG IMG_0209 (3).JPG

I noticed a scrape near my house, and set my camera up to see what kind of activity it had. Many interesting pics. These are the 2 best bucks so far. The 8 point doesn't have much mass(first picture). The 10 point is a dandy for these parts. Many people know of him and are hunting him. I hope that he gets to pass on his genes before he is shot.

I was going to post the 2689 pictures of grass blowing but I didn’t think you guys wanted to see that! Lol. The dates are wrong in the camera but that big buck showed up on the last picture. I’d say a week ago. It sucks because the area the coyotes are coming and going from used to be a huge bedding area for deer and I would get a ton of pictures of deer in that corner. Out of the 2689 pictures 10 were deer. The rest was coon, coyotes and weeds blowing and this card hasn't been pulled since Sept 28th.

Finally had a somewhat decent buck come through.
Was happy that he was cruising in the middle of the day.
Firearms deer hunting opens on the 9th here in Minnesota, the latest possible date, which should put us right in the rut.
Can't wait!

CaptCurt, the buck in your last pic loosk like he's got a healed up wound in his side already.
There is a smaller 8 pt that has a black spot on his jaw too. I had a doe that was in poor condition last year that worried me since we have CWD near our zone now. I think I have seen her this year and she has a little more meat on her bones. She had a ear that was bent so I could identify her.
