Heavy 45acp Revolver Load

OK...found my data.

A load I've tried several times over the last 15+ years is 8.6 grs. of Blue Dot under a cast 255 gr. SWC. Velocities ran from 927 fps to 956 fps out of my Colt Gov't Model. I got this load out of a magazine called simply "45 Auto", 30+ years ago. It's a heavy, but accurate load, so work up to it.

In my two S&W 1917's I loaded some 286 gr. cast SWC's. Loaded over 6.0 grs of Unique, velocity was 860 fps out of one, and 872 fps out of another, and accuracy was excellent out of both revolvers. 8.5 grs. of Blue Dot and the same bullet netted 867 fps.

Lately I've loaded some cast 255 gr. SWC's over 6.5 grs. of Power Pistol which run 905 fps.

Hope this helps.

Thank, guys!
Like brewer12345, I also shoot buckets of 200gn SWCs at paper targets, and they might be adequate for the job, but
those 250gn wadcutters from Matt's with that HUGE meplat look like they would be fun to work up a load for.
I think I will order 100, and have some fun loading something different.
Thanks again!

Not to muddy this thread again, but I found a trove of 45 Super data I can copy/paste if the OP is interested.

I'll probably order up some of the same 250gr bullets from Matt. The .500 ones I used to order from him were excellent and worth the price. I'll probably grab a bag of Starline Super brass as well just for cheap insurance. All my ACP brass has more than a few loadings on them already.
