Anyone one have any experience or critiques with the Kimber K6S 357 Magnum? Looking into purchasing one, just want to make sure it isn't a bad choice.

I don’t own one but would like to. Every report I’ve seen from an owner has been overwhelmingly positive.

Welcome to the forum TB336.:)
This is going to sound odd, but I really liked the K6S I had, and I sold it last week. The thing is, I bought it knowing the grips were a little small for my rather large hands, but thinking I'd replace them anyway - as I have with most of the revolvers I've ever bought.
Nope, I searched everywhere I could think of for replacement grips for my Kimber K6S, and could find any I liked anywhere. I even emailed Pachmayer and asked if they'd consider building some. They said they might consider it sometime in the future. I think they're waiting to see how well K6S' sell.
The holster selection for my K6S was rather small too. There were a few out there, but none that I liked.
However, other than the facts that I couldn't find a set of grips that fit my hand and a holster I liked, my K6S was a sweet little revolver - it seemed sturdy, had a good trigger and good sights, and I shot it well. But full house .357 Magnum loads hurt my hand because the grips were too small for me - they might fit you just fine.
So, I guess what I'm saying is, if you like how the K6S feels in your hand, buy it - I think you'll be pleased with it. Oh, and look around for Kimber K6S holsters before you buy too. Like I said, there are a few holsters for K6S' out there (Kimber themselves even has one) but I didn't like any of them. Just don't make the same mistakes I did - thinking I could easily find aftermarket grips and a holster. Those mistakes cost me some money and some frustration.:(
Edited to say: I contacted Simply Rugged also to see if they would start building holsters for K6S'. They said the same thing Pachmayer said. That is, they'd "think" about it.;)

Simply Rugged makes the Silver Dollar pancake for both the 2" and 3" K6S. I have one for my 3" K6S.

I also have Altamont stocks on mine, and they work very well for me.

The Kimber is very well made and makes for a very good compact 6 shot revolver. Sights are excellent, and I can't think of anything that I would change from my current configuration.

I traded a guy for one last year. It was the 2" Model. I hated the original grips and ordered a set of wood grips from Kimber and it made all the difference. No doubt the best double action only revolver I've ever owned and I really don't like double action only. I like to be able to shoot my revolvers single action as well. the trigger was fantastic and very unique as it was butter smooth but you could also stage the trigger and come very close to shooting it single action. Hard to explain but it worked. Let a buddy talk me out of it when Kimber announced the 3" with a hammer. I will own one but have sort of been waiting for some to pop up on the used market but so far have not seen any used ones. Could be a great sign that nobody is getting rid of them. Might break down and just buy a new one.

I probably should have stated in my post that my K6S was the DASA model. Altamont was one of the stock makers I looked at.

"FITTING NOTE: The Kimber K6 grips offered here will NOT fit the DASA models."
The above quote is from the Altamont website.

And, I wasn't kidding when I said I contacted Simply Rugged for a holster. They said they didn't currently build one for my K6S DASA. That was a big disappointment because I love the Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake holster I have for my Smith Model 69.

I own a plethora of “snub” .357 Magnum revolvers. From 3” 65’s to SP101’s to a Ruger Speed Six.

And, I’m thinking about getting a Kimber!

It’s a neat little gun. Buy it. If you like it, great. If not, I’ll buy it off you, used, for a discount, of course! :)

It reminds me of a snub Colt Lawman I owned. Short, handy and, six shot.

Should have kept that one. Oh well.

The Kimber is a nice revolver, for sure, and it has a very good da trigger pull. But I'd suggest taking a look at the new Colt King Cobra before making your mind up. I've squeezed a lot of revolver da triggers in my time but I've never found one with as good a pull as the is latest Colt offering is (if a smooth and light da trigger pull is important to you).

I've been toying with the idea of getting a magnum and there is a gun show coming up soon that used to be pretty good.

It's a bit out of my price range and probably a bit smaller than I should start with, I did like the Kimber I got to play with. I didn't actually like the colt as much but the sample size of one that I got a hold of had a really terrible cylinder release. Only the polymer Taurus was worse. So ymmv.

A lack of aftermarket grips is my primary reason for not owning one either. I suffer from the same big-handy-itus you do. Real small guns hurt.
In fact that’s part of why I ditched my 642. Every comfortable grip made the gun too big.

I have carried my K6s 3” DAO as my edc in a Tucker Texas Heritage IWB for over a year. I’m very happy with it! Love the trigger, size, carry comfort and build quality. I’m 5’8” with size “small” hands.
I changed the grips to a set of Altamont Altai (I strongly suspect they make the wood grips for Kimber). I also had it Magnaported.
I do wish there were better choices in night sights for it besides the ones kimber offers. Trijicon, Meprolight or Truglo would be nice.
My favorite Safariland Comp II speedloaders are not made for it yet. What’s so frustrating is they used to make one for D frame Colts and those would probably work fine as the kimber speedloader works in my D frame.

I have the K6s, use it for an EDC. Well made, quality fit and finish, got the Altamont wood grips, which are another inch longer,
and give a very nice grip, (purchased separately, for another 80$) compared to the stock rubber boot grips. The whole "melted edges" thing makes it
snag free, and it has a superb DA trigger action.

Basically, I had been looking for a snub-nose with all the features this pistol has, six shots, great sights, .357 caliber, good trigger,
hammerless, stainless steel, and very snag free. IMO, as a hammerless snubbie, this one is hard to beat.

I have the two inch version. Very, very preferable to the 642 in terms of shootability, and it provides a sixth shot, to boot.

I see no reason to use magnums in it--I don't get out in the woods anymore.

Winthrop makes good holsters, IWB and OWB..

I won't go into it here, but we have had long discussions about carrying revolvers with exposed hammers. There is, of course, the snag aspect, but there are legal risks, also.

I had the hammer of my 3 inch SP-101 bobbed.

I have a good friend who has an issue with his kimber not resetting quickly between shots. Said he took it to a gunsmith etc and was told that was normal. Said there’s an audible lapse between trigger release and hearing the hammer reset inside the revolver. Makes fast fire a problem or next to impossible. Anyone else have that issue?

No, mine resets as quickly as any S&W or Ruger DA revolver I’ve fired.

I haven't repeatedly rapid fired the K6, but neither I nor any of my friends shooting it have noticed a slow trigger.

Kimber K6s where do I start. I have been carrying the two inch model for over a year and I have shot it a lot. Here are a few videos of my thoughts, one reason for the video links is because I love the revolver but HATE what they did with the grips here is what I mean

:) I hope this helps
