As I'm sure some of you know that an outfit out of Montana, Shield Arms has come out with a flush fitting 15 round magazine for the Glock 43x/48 line of pistols. They offered a pre-order back middle of September that sold out fast; the magazines were said to start shipping in the order they received starting in October. I pre-ordered 4 magazines to be a test subject on, and haven't received mine yet.

I'm sure there are some on this board that had pre-ordered some, just wondering if anyone has received theirs yet?

I ordered mine as soon as I received the e-mail informing me of that option, but my order status says processing.

Same for me, the ink was still wet on their email to me saying pre-order available.

Mine still shows processing. I emailed them just to inquire about what they feel they can get the pre-orders completed time frame wise but have not heard back from them, but that was just yesterday.

I hope you guys also ordered the aluminum mag catches. I'm very interested to see if/how the metal Shield mags chew up the polymer Glock mag catches.

Received this information back from Shield Arms:

Hey Luke,
The pre-order is still set to start shipping out in the month of October. Even though this is set to begin in October, shipping may run a little bit into November to complete all orders. We do not have a specific date per order, but you will of course receive an email once your order ships!
Thank you for your patience,
Shield Arms
Generic I know but thought I would post it anyways.

The following is an update I received. It looks like they’re shipping soon.

S15 Preorder Update
November 4, 2019

Bottom line up front: slight delay.

Our first shipment of magazines arrived from our magazine manufacturer, and today we ran them through quality control (QC). Unfortunately, they did not meet our standards as they were sent with the wrong surface finish. While this may not seem like a big deal, surface finish actually plays a big role in reliability, and we just aren’t willing to send magazines out to our customers that aren’t right, especially when it could potentially cause a reliability issue down the road.

The good news is that we should be receiving our next shipment of magazines next week, and we are assured that this issue will be corrected.

Thank you for your patience – as a way of saying thank you, ALL PREORDERS are shipping with a 20% OFF COUPON CODE to use on your next purchase at ShieldArms.com.

Stay tuned, we will be posting photos and videos to social media this week so you can see the magazines in action. Yes they are real, yes they run, and we are almost there.

Miraculous products and mysterious delays often go hand in hand... I really hope these mags materialize however so fingers crossed we get a range report some day soon.

Yeah was going to update this thread. Received the same email. Hopefully the new batch is correct, and gets shipped promptly. But glad they stuck to their design and didn’t push out substandard magazines. They promoted these magazines and the last thing they need is a problem right out of the gate. I’m not worried, I’m sure I’ll get mine and it’ll work.

I'm not worried, if I don't receive anything after a while a quick credit card claim will get my money back. I anticipate I'll be receiving a shipping email soon for tracking, they are over their first ship date by not that much, and have sent an explanation.

They have begun shipping, they are waiting for another batch to ship I guess.

Here is a website that details out the status of the magazines:

I guess Check-Mate is the magazine contractor they are using to build the magazines. It looks like there are different generations of G43x/48 grips that was causing some tolerance issues. And the first batch of magazines didn't have the right finish and wouldn't reliably drop free which was a combination of finish and the different tolerances in the generation of Glock frames. The guys at Shield Arms stated that the generation changes on the frames would be unnoticeable to the common person but for someone developing an aftermarket magazine would.

I guess the 3rd batch of Shield Arms 15rd magazines are being stamped, formed and welded as of December 3rd. They expect it to take 4-5 batches to fulfill the preorders.

It would be nice to hear from someone who has received their preorder on the function so far.

Here are a couple of videos of a customer running a few SA15 magazines:

Now a video by the same person with 15+1

Looks very promising. Can't wait to try mine out.

On another forum, there was a range report that said the mags won't drop free in the user's black G48, apparently due to a subtle change in the design of the magwell. They reported no issues with feeding.

Yeah, Shield Arms released an article stating that there was a very slight design change by Glock to their lower dimensions, nothing substantial but enough to cause problems with developing a magazine. They said that if it is too tight to drop free to put some painters tape one layer thick around the magazine and heat up the glock magwell a bit and jamb the taped magazine in there and let it cool to get the lower to expand a little bit. I've heard of this technique by Glock guys in the past where they've needed to stretch out their magazine wells.

Simple solution. Nice.

Mine came today, and they're looking good. I put about 300 rounds through 2 of them without a problem. I'll put a few more rounds through them before carrying the gun with them, but I'm optimistic.

I was back at the range today testing them. I put another 200 rounds of 147 grain HST, 124 grain HST and 124 grain Gold Dots through 2 of the magazines without a failure. They're good to go, and I'm comfortable using them for CC. I did receive a third magazine which is being sent back. The follower was sticking with 10 or more rounds in it. That went away but it won't reliably feed hollow points, with the nose of the bullet jamming at the bottom of the feed ramp. I spoke with and exchanged e-mails with Shield Arms and their customer service has been exceptional. For anyone who's on the fence with these, I'd highly recommend them.

@TomJ good to hear Tom glad they are working for you. I haven’t received mine yet but hopefully soon.

Thanks for the report! Now if the G43x and 48 frames with rails get introduced in the states I'll be just about out of excuses to swap my G19 out.
