Hiya Guy's :) . No I know I've had my fair share of 303 Brits' & I wound up making a mistake of selling or trading them all off for other things, and after princess bozo appeared & the milsurp market dried up and most things got real scarce for a while, I figured I wouldn't have another chance to pick up another really nice one again. Then after I picked up my 7.62 nato Ishapore Enfield I figured if I do I do, if I don't I don't. Well, I just happened to be out running around getting errands and things done when I ran into one of my friends that I do a lot of business with so I stopped to grab a cup of coffee and visit for a while before I was on my way & heading towards home before it dropped below freezing again. Shortly after I got home I was in the kitchen making a pot of my Hi Octane leaded Coffee when I heard something scratching at the door. Naturally I thought it was Scraggles my spoiled rotten furball , as I let her outside when I get home. I walked over and opened the door to let her in only to find this SMLE shivering from the cold looking for a home, so naturally I reached down and picked it up and brought it in, then grabbed my grog & sat down to get a better look at jt :p ...

As luck would have it and surprisingly it turned out to be a really nice unmolested 104 yr old #'s matching 1915 MKlll SMLE in .303 Brit' :) . One of the first things that comes to mind is I don't have reloading dies or brass for it so that goes right to the top of my bucket list, then I think to myself, this thing is in really nice shape for its age :) . Everything is tight, the bolt is slick and smooth, the chamber looks really good & although the bore looks a lil' dark it looks promising and should clean up nicely once I take care of the cobwebs and chase the dust bunnies away. Needless to say I'm glad it kicked my door to scratch on and it'll be a nice addition to my collection and go nicely with my Ishapore :) ...

Sometimes you just need to stop and think about things gsbuikman. You don't even have reloading dies for it. How On earth do you expect to feed it. Will it have to fend for itself like poor scruggles. The humane thing to do would be to find a proper home for it. It just so happens that I run the local chapter of the SMLE society here in sunny Vermont. Your unloved SMLE will find its "forever" home in the warm hills of the Green Mountain State.

Shame the disc is gone....but they did that back then after figuring out hay if we just look at this circle thingy we know all kinds of info.....they figured we really don't want to give the enemy any more info.

That's okay I called my go to Brass Horse down in Tennessee and come to find out he has a pile of British 303 brass and several sets of reloading dies so I'd have my bases covered for another caliber on the reloading bench :)

Nice! Mine is a Mk IV made by Savage with "US PROPERTY" on the side of the receiver. I got it at Big 5 about 20 years ago for 95 bucks if I recall right.

I'm glad to see another unmolested piece of history find a good home!

Stay safe.

Oh boy....If that #1 Mk3 service rifle could talk.
I have a'41 Lithgow Mk3* I bought in the early '90s. Still one of my favorite firearms. I roll my own rounds,a bit tamer than than Mk7 service loads of which it has had thousands fired down its barrel in the glory days of surplus 303,by the case. I have to be nicer to the old girl in her old age.

Ultra cool............. I really like those things and had a nice one for over twenty years. It got sold at auction in September when I started thinning things out. I miss it already. Always felt a connection with the #1 Mk3's as my paternal grandfather spent 17 months in France with the Canadian Army in 1917-18.
