Oh, I may be in trouble...went to the gun show this weekend, and fondled one of these EVO's. The form factor is definitely up my alley, I've been wanting a 9mm carry peice that's thin, small and sealed up. I've found, as much as I like hammer fired guns, exposed hammers love to collect shmoo while being carried, and beaver tails like to jab me when IWB. Does anyone have experience with these? And, is there anything like this out there at a lower price point? I'm not a fan of carrying high dollar pistols on the regular, I'll go up to about $500 for a CCW. But, those evos sure are purdy...

They're going to suggest a P365 which isn't exactly what you are looking for, but I figured I'd get that out the way...

I'm not aware of any other steel/aluminum framed, striker fired, 9mm pistol just like the EVO that's under $500... The closes I can think of are the Kahr K9 or MK9 which isn't exactly the same either... Everything else has a hammer.

I handled one and was very impressed with the feel of the gun overall and thought the trigger was really nice for a carry gun.

I believe tarosean owns one. He’ll probably chime in.

They work quite well too. They should have stole Glocks slogan for the gun.:what:

I picked one up in July/August and have been carrying it routinely for the last couple months.

1.2k rounds no malfunctions.

Only nit picking is getting the slide stop back in is a little tricky. While it is for all intense and purposes a 1911 one. there is a tab that protrudes for the striker mechanism that has to hit perfectly all while under recoil spring pressure.

@tarosean , that is a nice looking pistol!. I figured the p365 and k9 were going to be the closest ones in form to the evo, but the evo seems to be the closest thing to a modern colt 1903 pocket hammerless chambered in 9mm, which would be sweet, apart from some engineering challenges.:D Classic look, modern reliability, good cartridge, proper form for ccw...just kinda checks all the boxes. That may be what all my pocket change gets saved up for over the next year.

I'll keep you mind OP with the holidays coming up. If I see any sales, I'll be sure to let you know... I wouldn't mind having one myself, but Kimber's pricing keeps me at bay too.

The slide start Install is a poor design feature and is one of the things that made me dislike my solo. I have lots of Kimber Firearms but I am not going to bite on the evo. I dislike that type of trigger safety on any pistol also. Poor design in my opinion.
I pocket carryed the solo for a few years then a 938 sig. for 3 more years. Currently Carry a sig 365 that works better for me than the other two.
