MVC-002L.JPG Just outside Cadillac, Michigan------
Groan, someone got a deer with a sedan caliber weapon last Friday night. It lays 10 feet from my mailbox in my right of way. The meat is frozen by now and you can have it for free! This animal might have some broken bones which would make it easier to butcher. The hide may be embossed with a Detroit trade mark, but would not show after tanning. Save money on ammunition and pick it up now. :)

Post pictures when you connect.
I'm heading back to New York for Saturdays opener. I will be flying out of Seattle in three hours. Tomorrow I will be checking trail cams that have been out for three weeks where I will be sitting saturday morning.

My dad is 90 and hasn't hunted in about 8 years. He had stroke last Wednesday night that left his speech slurred, left leg weak , and left arm useless. From his bed in the rehabilitation facility he is still telling us where to go and we better be out there. This will be the first time in 76 years he has not been around for the opener. He may have missed one time during th Korean war. Even though he can't see well enough to hunt he was still there to bring deer in, skin, and butcher. We will be out Friday morning to respect his wishes even though no one really wants to. I will still pull the trigger as he will be expecting favorable reports Friday afternoon or evening.

This is awesome. I leave at 1am from GA. It’s supposed to be a cold night but it’s right at 50 when I leave.

I get to MI and there is 4” of snow, 18 degrees and 20 mph wind. I’m from MI but living in the armpit of the south has made me soft to cold weather.

I’ll tough it out though and it is good to see that it will be cold with snow in the ground. We usually get some good action on the opener where I’m at.

I just landed in Detroit for a lay over to Binghamton New York. It is all snow on the ground.
Waiting to see some pictures and read a few reports on sucess here in Michigan

I'll be hunting tomorrow a few miles from the Michigan-Ohio border in Lenawee County. I've been archery hunting at my friend's place in Washtenaw county since October 1 but have not connected. Saturday I'm heading up to Montmorency County near Atlanta.

Corn hasn’t been harvested yet around my area which can lead to problems. There are corn fields all around where I have my blind. I’m hoping for a spooked deer to come from the corn into my little swamp/swale I am set up in for some better cover and I can make a quick shot.

Yeah I know. It’s an interesting way to hunt. I have shot over 50 deer in this small 1/4 acre swale though.

There is a Christmas tree field adjacent that I could hunt in and maybe have 25 yd shot max. Gotta get low in there though.
