Depending on your age and hearing, you might want to add some electronic hearing protection where you can amplify thew sound to a level better than your natural hearing. As others have said, move slowly, break up your outline, glass often and thoroughly, and do not be in a rush

I practice with same game. We both live in maine. That starts oct 1st. Can learn alot trying to sneak up on a grey squrrial

Since I hunt deer with big bore revolvers, hearing protection is a must at all times, so I use electronic muffs. What they do the most, is amplify the sounds you make as you walk....which is probably about what the deer hear. So....if you think you walk silently....put on a set of electronic muffs and turn up the volume.

Iirc hearing protection that amplifies sound is not legal in NY it may not be in other locations.
