The LGS that I frequented closed its doors. The costs involved to comply with Illinois' new gun licensing law was too extreme for them to continue doing business. They have moved across the state line to Indiana and I wish them the very best.

They not only sold firearms and ammo but sold many firearm related articles and had a great selection of reloading supplies. I am really gone to that.

I don't know how politicians can live with themselves knowing they run honest and hard working people out of business.

Black AR style rifles have really never been a favorite of mine and I don't own any (carried one for 6 years in the army). Now the Chicago politicians are banding together to pass legislation to prohibit ownership of AR style rifles, so that makes me want to own one. My dilemma is; do I buy one from my dealer that moved his business to Indiana or do I buy one from one of the dealers that is still trying to buck the system and stay in Illinois.

I understand- It took me 6 years after my Army ETS and BO's election for me to jump into the AR world with a lefty STAG M16A4 clone. I would definitely pick-up a model similar to what you were issued.

Maybe a sign you need to move to Indiana also...

Driving LGS' out of business is the goal of this legislation. I live in the Chicago suburbs and one of our better LGS' is currently closed as they tempoarily don't have a license, with the state giving them a hard time. John Kass wrote an article not too long ago regarding the refusal of Chicago and Cook County to prosecute violent criminals to the fullest extent of the law, as both are broke and it costs something like $31,000 a year to incarcerate someone. They're giving violent criminals ankle bracelets and house arrest, with them finding ways to bypass the ankle bracelets and committing more crimes. I'll look for a link to that article and post it, if I canfind it. Instead of fixing their problems and protecting law abiding people they're targeting LGS' and legal gun owners. My youngest son is in a great school and we don't want to pull him out, but when he finishes high school in a few years we're moving to Wisconsin. We've had enough.

Unfortunately I believe there will be more local government regulations making it hard to do business as a LGS, that will make it hard to purchase firearms, then they will restrict what we can have.
I think politicians forget the oath they take when they are elected to protect the constitution

I have no loyalty to this state whatsoever. I buy my shooting gear from my lgs to support him, not my state. I would buy from an out of state shop and still sleep well.

I'm ready to plant a lone star flag in my barn lot and declare my farm texas.
If you identify as a Texan then they should allow it. Identifying as a resident of another state is less far fetched than identifying as the opposite sex.

I invite you to come visit my LGS west of Oblong on Rt 33. I'll even meet you there, if you wait until I finish my last 135a of corn.

The People's Democratic Socialist Republic (PDSR) of California is currently doing the same thing. The 'Progressive' - read communist - government of that once great state is running out all the gun shops and moving to remove all guns owned by citizens as well. They also seem to be getting rid of personal liberties as much as possible and raising taxes on working people so the net population change is more productive people are moving out than moving in.

It is uncomfortable in the short term but will burn itself out in a relatively short time. Like one wants to wait it out. But the state will eventually exhaust all the wealth in the state. Good luck with what you decide.

I don't think they care. There's a strong desire, and quite a bit of glee and excitement, showing up during thus election cycle to destroy any business or industry that they disagree with regardless if how many people loose their jobs. Guns, oil, coal, insurance, ranching, etc are all targets.

Because the law accomplished exactly what they set out to accomplish. Since they can't outright ban guns, they will make it too difficult and too expensive for gun shops to do business in IL.

I know what you mean about the loss of a good gun store. When I lived in Oregon just down the street from my house we had Wild Bill’s Guns. I loved that store, but the owners decided to call it quits and retire. I don’t think anyone in the family wanted to take over so they closed it. I was sad but happy for the owners.

Here in California where I live again (I have moved here 4 different times in my life...I think Einstein had a theory about that) Anyway, a couple of my favorite stores hat used to be here are no longer in business. Fortunately a new store opened not too far away and it’s run by a bunch of great guys so I have found my new LGS.

I have visited your LGS before. I have not been west of Oblong for a spell, so didn't know if he was still in business. Some of the small FFL's in my area are giving it up.
