Suddenly want a set on non metallic G-10 chop sticks. I had a set of carbon fiber ones I broke. I want a G-10 set, and I can't find them . Any help here ? Or should I gear up and start making them :)

I would like some too. Havent seen any. There was some talk of them on a knife forum many years ago but thats all I have heard.

Lets think about whether a glass fiber composite like G-10 is a good choice for eating utensils. ;)

Of course if you don't eat with them it probably doesn't matter.

Since they're from Ka-Bar, you know there will be videos from "experts" on how to baton with them. lol

On the other hand, there is a warning about them containing cancer causing substances, normally ignored, but perhaps not on something going in your mouth.

I bought two packages (4 sets) of the Kabar chop sticks on Amazon . I destructed tested one set and they are GTG for combat use (one time :) ) IMHO. It took a full body weight when in a vice to bend them to uselessness . They are stout enough to penetrate unless large bone is hit . AND as mentioned they are food grade. They don't look scary. everybody carries non metal chop sticks with them . right ? :)

Koreans , which I am hanging out with lately only like metallic sticks . I am taking two sets of the Kabar plastic ones , and my Hickory Stock Cane on the plane to Mexico for a months stay in Jan. :)

Korean metal chopsticks are amazing tools, and they have one heck of a learning curve to use effectively. I learned about them working for my last employer, Hyundai. I have a set of them somewhere or another (just moved into a new house a few weeks ago). I might have to get a set as "travel tools."

There is a little Korean restaurant down in Lawrence that has the metal chopsticks at the table. Guess I never realized that they are a Korean "thing", just thought it was better to wash and reuse versus the disposables ? Learn sumpthin new every day here.. o_O
Regarding the self defense chopsticks , my kid was refused entry into the Denver Comic-Con this year due to having a hair stick in their bag. It is basically a fancy chop stick but pointy and the security people deemed it dangerous.

Has there been an increase of attacks in the urban areas by Lo Mein noodles?
Is there a FBI protocol in testing Chop Sticks?

:D

There used to be a SF&F con in the South East called Weapons Con....you had to have a weapon to get in. Most were fantasy Prop stuff but a few were not. A friend attended in a fantasy Female archer out fit (long before Katniss was even name on an outline) with a Compound hunting bow and four Bear Hunting arrows on an attached holder with the razor inserts and the main warhead sharp enough to shave with. Said that if one of the things she heard about the correlation between knife sizes and the size of something else were true, that it seemed half the guys at the con were of little interest.

About ten years back a group of folks that used to "gather" on Baen Books e-board would meet at cons and go shooting and share gun experience.

Ah those were the days.

There was a guy on You Tube a few years back that threw the heavy plastic chopsticks with great accuracy and some force. Givn things like the Lubbie's Café shooting in Texas years ago this was of interest to me. I always wondered what might have been the outcome in that shooting had there been a few disc games folks in the resteraunt with those heavy round café plates...

That's because Comic-Con folks are familiar with the use of chopsticks in combat by anime characters

Yes, metal chopsticks are solely a Korean thing. You'll never see them in a traditional Chinese or Japanese eatery.

Koreans also are the only ones who use metal rice bowls...but you're not supposed to pick them up while eating

I've been eating with chopsticks since before I can remember. We had mostly bamboo and wooden chopsticks. I now carry metal chopsticks in my carry around utensils bag since they're easier to clean.

Anyway, I never heard of carrying chopsticks for self defense, but if I were, then the sturdiest non-metal chopsticks I ever say were the large plastic chopsticks at Chinese Chop Suey Restaurants that serve Cantonese food. Those are good for cooking because they're 10 inches long. Wouldn't know where to find those now (maybe Amazon), because I don't see them anymore. Even Chinese restaurants use cheap disposable chopsticks these days.
