I have, since announced, wanted a 327 lever gun. Finally found one about 9 months ago. With all of life’s happenings I didn’t get to shoot it until this week. Boy was I disappointed.

I went to a local outdoor range with the Henry and a few revolvers. I set some targets at 25 yds and had a good time with the revolvers. A 2 or 3 year itch was about scratched.

I still had a couple of clear targets up so I decided to see where the sights were at 25. I couldn’t see where the first shot hit so I squeezed off another. Wasn’t able to see it either so I figured it must be in the black area of the target. After walking out to the target I realized no shots were even on paper.

I use a home made 8x11 target. After moving up to 7 yards one shot finally clipped the far right side of the paper.

Long story short I have drifted the rear sight as far as I can trying to zero and just am on the target at 25 yards. POI still needs to go left 4 inches at 25 but I can’t drift the sight any more with out it falling out.

I guess my question is “ How’s Henry’s customer service”. I have never had to send a firearm back to for repairs. I have heard Ruger does and outstanding job with CS. Just wondering if Henry’s is as good.

They work quickly. I had a broken firing pin a few months after I bought mine so I took the gun to scheels (where I bought it) and had them send it back to Henry so I didn’t have to pay shipping. It was back the next week. No questions asked.

Edit: I forgot an important detail: they did fix the problem. I’m sure they would be happy to fix your gun too.

Everything I've read is that, Henry's CS takes care of you.
On the personal side, they fixed my kid's youth .22 lever action that would become a jamb-o-matic after putting about 50 rounds through it. Turn around was only a couple days.

I always thought the 327 out of a carbine would be a good small game- to whitetail sized game cartridge. It's gotta be cooking out of that length barrel.

Have you tried other ammo?

Every gun/rifle is different, with different likes & dislikes in ammo.
What did you use (brand/bullet type/etc)

No direct experience, but a close buddy bought a Golden Boy that never grouped better than 1.5-2" and at 50 yards. He assumed that all he could expect but called Henry about it, they had him send in the gun and rebarreled it after finding something wrong. The new barrel did the trick and tightened up the groups.

Ya, you're probably correct.

but I DID have a 9mm that HATED 115gr bullets.
I changed to 124 gr & it was totally different.

anyways just my 2¢ worth.
YMMV (your mileage may vary)

We have sold a ton of Henrys and the very few that had problems were fixed quickly with no problems.

i had a beautiful 357 big boy. the sights had to be protruding from the side of the dovetail in order to get it sighted in . i couldn't group well with it. i couldn't hit a 6 inch gong at 50 yrds with it offhand when i could hit the same target the same day with my revolver offhand with the same reloads. i suspect the bore was oversized. i gave up on shooting it when they changed range rules where we can't shoot steel with rifles at less than 225 yrds and i traded it in. i didn't bother with customer service though.

I bought a Henry Single Shot Rifle In 45-70 a year and a half ago. It has a blemish on the barrel. The rest of the gun is perfect. Anyway, I contacted Henry and they said I could send the rifle back. They could replace the barrel or the rifle. My choice. I decided to shoot it first. I was so happy with the accuracy that the little blemish really didn’t matter.
I called them back and thanked them for the kind offer and told them to cancel the work order.

On another note, a short time after that I called them again to ask if they would consider making the Single Shot rifle in 30-30. They said they had no plans for that but they had received numerous calls expressing interest in a 30-30 chambering. A few months ago I saw that they had added the 30-30 to their catalog list.

They have very good customer service, as far as I am concerned.

When I get a NEW firearm I go through a short break in period with factory ammo. Every firearm manufacturer prohibits the use of handloads. After I’m confident everything is good to go with the Henry I will develop a load that it likes. I have 8 327 revolvers that takes 4 different loads to keep them happy.

Well to date all I have accomplished is getting a catalog. I am also in the middle of an interesting game of phone tag with CS. I don’t think I have actually talked to anyone at Henry. Just to the nice lady with the answering service. I should have several catalogs headed my way if any one needs one.

There really isn't a good Whitetail bullet available anymore. If there was, I'd already own one.

That's odd. It's been several years but I bought a Henry AR7 used at a gun show and it was missing the front sight.

I called Henry and the lady who answered was a Henry employee and quickly had the front sight shipped to me.

I didn't have to go through any intermediaries. I am curious if they have changed that.

I had a 357 big boy that wouldn’t feed 38’s. They had me send it it, it was around Christmas time so I’m sure they were busy and short staffed with vacations and time off. They ended up sending me a new one which I’m sure was easier at the time, it worked perfectly and had nicer looking wood than the original. I was very pleased with their customer service, quick and painless.

Just an update here, I got a new rifle delivered today. Although I haven’t got to shoot yet I am confident all will be well with the new rifle. There wasn’t any communication as to what was actually wrong, only a nice thank you note. Tomorrow I will get to see how it shoots.

Well........... the new one has to go back now. After 17 rounds the action is locked up. It looks like the extractor is broken. I am having terrible luck with this rifle that I wanted so bad.
