Hello all, I have no idea if this is being posted in the correct spot so sorry in advance. I recently ordered up some 9x18 makarov ammo for my newly acquired cz82. This ammo is imported by wolf and box has a 2019 production stamp inside the flap. The problem is that this head stamp looks an awful like Tula.

I was under the impression tula and wolf are not playing ball with each other anymore and haven't been for a while now. I got the ammo from sportsman's guide where it was advertised as a "new" offering. It is 92 grain but has a taper at the tip. Can anyone identify this head stamp? Pics will follow!

I found an answer for my question! I contacted Wolf in California and they told me that beginning around March of '19 they began importing ammo from Tula under the wolf brand. So just to let everyone know some new wolf brand ammo may be Tula rather than Branual or LVE as it has been for the last few years. Caveat Emptor!

With that being said I did get a nice group from this ammo just before sunset and function was flawless. Also not as stinky as my Monarch or Silver bear.

walnut1704 I would have to agree with you there!! haha I know Russian ammo has at times gotten a bad rap for quality but gee whiz jacket separation before even firing. I will shoot this supply knowing it was only 10$ a box then back to fiocchi or S&B, PPU, brown bear ect ect.

I have a FEG PA-63, but I don't shoot it much. I do reload for it though. I think my ammo is higher quality.

Nice gun! I have heard very good things about them, I am itching for another pistol chambered for the 9mak that way i can justify getting more ammo haha. I have no doubt your loadings would be of higher quality than these

I agree with Fiocchi, PPU and S&B but would stay away from Brown, Silver or Golden Bear ammo. It's only because it's made in Russia and by Barnaul. I don't trust their QC since they are probably angry about all the limits being put on trade. All IMO of course.

I hadn't even considered that! Maybe thats why my fmjs are rattling! I can get the fiocchi for another buck or two a box ane I am very pleased with their quality. So far all mak ammo I got from them has been made in Italy with the green primer sealant.

I have never had issues out of barnaul but that was all out of old ammo bough years ago I have no real experience with their recent stuff. Now Tula has given me some issues. It's all pretty dirty

I like it, almost identical to a Walther PP (in feel if not quality, but it's pretty good). I put a spring kit in it and the trigger pull improved dramatically. But ignition on those hard Russian primers is iffy. I started reloading for it so I could use some U.S. primers now ignition is 100%. I got some Hornady XTP's that they made for the Mak and a box of Meister LRN for practice. Put a stiffer recoil spring in it and it runs like a champ.

wow that is a very nice looking gun and highly concealable! Are those grips stock? They are fine. I am going to pick up 2 boxes of hornady for mine one box to test function the other to save for carry. RevolvingGarbage I would say with full certainty..... yes!!

Also I was not aware they made the 83 in 9x18 I thought they were all .380. I would love to have a fine blued specimen like the cz83 instead of the header paint used on the cz82s. Or like PA-63 that Walnut1704 has, that is a beautiful finish!

No they are aftermarket eBay grips. The stock grips on the PA-63 are awful, they have to put a thumb rest on the left panel to meet import restrictions. It does have remarkably nice bluing. Most of the ones you see have an in-the-white aluminum frame but mine is black.

Very cool grips, I looked up the gun and noticed that two tone look. Are they all aluminum frames? I also seen those import grips you mentioned, they are some ungangly looking things!

Yes, the PA-63 has an aluminum frame. The surplus guns are in-the-white but I think KBI had some built just for export to the US with blackened frames.

I was of course mistaken, it having been almost 7 years since I had owned the gun. It was indeed a CZ82 in 9x18.

I couldn’t get that little stash of ammo out of my head so I ended up bidding on and winning another CZ82 and just picked it up this week. I did pretty good getting the gun and spare mag in hand for just over 300 shipped/bgc/transfered

I have one utilitarian IWB and one fancier flap holster coming in a week or so. For now I’m carrying it in a desantis soft tuck meant for a J frame and it fits much better than it aught to.

Isn't stinky Russian 9mm ammo better than unreliable US-made ammo which might smell better?

I'm talking about the 150 or so rds. of "Forged", by Winchester which I tried. Once.

CZ PCR handguns are known to function quite well. Never had a single issue with my Russian Monarch or Wolf ammo, just "Forged".

Nice example of a cz82 there RevolvingGarbage! Ignition, I tried some winchester forged once as well.....Worst 9mm luger I have Ever Ever Ever shot. It made tula look like primo ammo by comparison. It is also the only steel case to choke up my star BM and that thing eats anything.
