A guy in my area is advertising 500 bullet boxes of 9mm, Speer 125gr Lead Round Nose bullets for $15 per box with 6 boxes available. All 6 for $80. That's a bargain! Had anyone ever loaded these? They aren't cast and no hardness listed on Speer website. What velocity would you run these at so as to not get leading

I've got some Speer lead wad-cutters for my 357 but haven't tested them yet. I plan on loading them with regular old cast lead data as they're supposed to be better than standard lubed lead.

According to Speer..."Speer® cold-formed lead bullets are even better than ever with a technologically advanced, multi-layer lube. The coating won’t burn off, virtually eliminating leading problems and ensuring cleaner, more accurate shooting."

I use a lot of Speer Hollow base wadcutters for 38 special but that's pretty low velocity compared to any 9mm

I use a lot of Speer LSWC for 38/357 and 44 special/ magnum. They work very well. I tried some 38/357 LRN and worked just as good. For that price I would sure buy them.

$15/500 is a great deal. And if you get the whole lot, 3000 of them ought to give you ample work up loads, and fine shooting loads. :)

They are going to be dead soft swaged with a thin lube.
I always had leading trouble with the Speer swaged bullets in 38/357, never bought the 9mm version for that reason. I usually resorted to adding liquid alox as a second lube.
Hopefully your 9mm bore likes them.

I did see a few reviews, at Midway IIRC, that applied their own lube to the Speer LRN bullets.

9MM. That could be .356 or even .355.
Beyond that I gave up on bare lead bullets in a 9mm decades ago. Just too many problems.

Years ago I tried them in a Browning High Power --- had to load low fps so they wouldn't lead the barrel --- tried a bunch of loads then gave up.
