I bought this combo a few weeks ago and finally got out to shoot them today. I got my windage on, but I've run out of elevation adjustment. POI is consistently about 1.5" below the POA. I'm shooting at a range of about 15 feet, doing a coarse zero. My experience with similar optics are the Army M68 and EO Tech. I have the sight mounted to the rear of the breach, if that makes any difference. The glass is directly above the front of the bolt release. Any thoughts?

You might try moving the target farther out. Depending on how high your sight is above the bore, it might be affecting your ability to zero it at that close of a range. I have the same sight on a MKIV tactical on the factory rail and had no issues sighting in at 25 yards. 5 yards might be an issue.

This is my Rugerish MKIII (only the bolt and spring are OE) with the Venom on top.

I've had no trouble at all getting it sighted in. It's so accurate and easy to shoot it's almost boring. ;)

Please post up a picture, it may help.
- Were you able to sight in with the sights, before you added the Venom?
- Do you have a friend that can loan you the rail off their gun? The rail may be the culprit.
- Is the barrel fitting on the frame tightly? They sometimes loosen up when shooting, but some blue locktite can fix it.

I'm with those that say your target is too close at 5 yards. The red dot sits very high above the bore compared to the factory iron sights. If you just have to have it sighted in at 5 yards a custom rail may be your solution or you might manage to get by switching to a dovetail mount which will put your sight much closer to the bore.

If it were me I would switch to the dovetail mount and live with the results. It also makes for a much cleaner looking gun. I have both a MK III and a MK IV with the dovetail mounted red dot and everything else removed from the top of the pistols and plug screws in the holes and I like the set-up. Will they zero at 5 yards? I don't know as I have no need for that close a zero.
