9x18 Makarov....

Get it chambered for 9x19.

Wow. I have to say, for any pistol chambered in 9mm Makarov that I can think of, that suggestion seems neither prudent or practical. Did I misunderstand what skeeterfogger was suggesting, or he was suggesting it to?

Also, back when I used to go to gun shows a lot, there were usually vendors with cheap 9mm Mak ammo. Has that changed?

Why shoot .380ACP in a Makarov chambered pistol?

9x18mm Makarov steel cased cartridges are cheap and plentiful, especially over the internet. Those eastern European pistols and their extractors were expressly designed to work with steel cased ammo - use it!

My Czech CZ82, Russian Baikal, Bulgarian Makarov, and Polish P64 hand cannons all love the cheap steel cased Russian ammo - I never bother looking for brass cased rounds.

Well i bought a makarov a few years ago. the slide said 380 so i was shooting 380. With poor results. After a few rounds i found out why. some one out a 9x18 barrel in it and never marked the slide. It can be not, but not safe at all. i got lucky. As far as 380 vs 9x18. i would prefer the 9mm makarov. Can find ammo at most store and pretty cheap. Most of the time at 9x19 ammo prices.

I understand some cars will run off kerosene... with some eventual negative outcomes.

Use only the ammunition the firearm is designed to use. If it's life and death, go for it. If it's at the range, forget it.
