A lot of love and hate for this round. With the season into it's second week , has anyone dropped a whitetail with the 350 Legend ? A lot of folks are waiting for the real world data on how well this new round preforms. If you have, with what ammo, what range, and how far did the deer go ? I hope to get one for my daughter before next season if the feedback is positive. -Thanka

I'm interested to see as well, especially how those custom bullets all perform.

I have had really good luck with 357 Mag from a rifle and can only imagine the 350 do better.

I thought (am still thinking as you can’t have one of everything without one) about getting one as I have 357 max stuff but then again, I have a 357 max I don’t use much...

With the right loads, I think it would be better than some AR rounds and not as good as others for the intended job.

Finding this thread interesting and I'm waiting for some 350 Legend owner to score and post some feedback. The OP isn't the only inquiring mind that wants to know. There's gotta be some folks out hunting with one and I would like to wish them the best of luck and post up pertinent information. Sounds like an ideal choice for the OP's daughter if it gets good results. I happen to know of a 16 yr. old girl who may also benefit from one. Ruger now chambers the 350 Legend in their Ranch Rifle and if the 350 Legend is as good as advertised then it would be a sweet combo.

Took a nice doe last weekend with mine. Shooting out of a blind, 38 yards broadside. Went in between the ribs blew up the chest cavity, took out 3 ribs on the way out. She ran 40 yards and piled up dead, massive blood trail. Shooting 180 grain Winchester Power Points. My buddies daughter took one at 90 yards, same basic results using Hornady 165 grain FTX's. We're in Iowa so straight wall cartridge only. I really like it for the soft recoil and noise. 450's are nice too but they are very loud.

With the break on mine the blast and noise was reminiscent of a short barreled ar-10.

The 350 Legend round entered the animal’s vitals, caused a violent hydraulic and tissue event and the animal expired - why would it not?

That's cheating meat miser!
Id do that every time if i thought I could.

Those XTPs im running are designed for an operational velocity of 800-1100fps, im pushing them at double that. I USUALLY shoot stuff thru the lugs, or heart, and the stuff i shoot isnt very wide, so they should work ok for what I do. Hit a big heavy hog or deer with one of these on a none squishy bit and you may have issues getting to the vitals tho.
Most .355-.356 projectiles are ment for the 9mm, and a similar operational velocity to the XTPs. My gun at least, dosent comfortably chamber rounds loaded with .358 dia bullets, tho its close, so it probably could chamber .357s which would be a better option than most of .356 pistol bullets.
The Legend specific projectiles are available (i just happen to have a pile of these xtps to burn up), and the factory ammo SHOULDNT have this issue, but its something to be aware of for someone just getting into shooting and reloading.

I have some of the 180pps, which ill try next time I hunt with the legend.

I picked up a set of Walker Silencer Ear Buds and not only did my 450 BM with a brake not ring my ears (like it did last year) I could hear the deer and armadillo that I shot with it coming before I shot them. I have been impressed with them in the woods. Still not a good as naked ears but pretty close.

How much do they run these days. I would never have time to put ear plugs in,

I splurged and got the Bluetooth capable version and they were ~$250. If you get the none-Bluetooth versions they are abut $150. They are all day comfortable and come with three different size foam plugs and stabilizer fins to help custom fit them to your ears. They last all day on a charge (assuming your not using the Bluetooth) and the case has a battery and can recharge the buds several times before the case needs to be recharge with a USB charger. I have worn them for a USPSA match, several range trips, and four hunting trips so far this year and am pleased with them. They would work with that little 350 Legend too. :D
