Here in NW Pennsylvania it's not unusual to have cold temps and snow by now. It was 42 degrees in Saturday, so a friend and I got in some range time.
Here are the guns we brought: on top is a S&W 442, below left is a S&W Highway Patrolman with a Ruger SR9c below that. In the right are a S&W model 64 and a Springfield Armory XD Mod2 in 45

Here is our range setup for the day. We have 5 steel plates to shoot at as well as the 2 target stands. From our farthest shooting point it's 100 feet to the 2 plates on the cliff face. We shoot all our guns r this range, even the j frames and little 380s

Here my buddy is shooting a drill I made up with his XD. When the shooter is ready, "Threat!" Is called. As shooter begins drawing his gun, 2 colors are called. Shooter has to put 2 shots into each color called as quickly as possible. This drill makes you listen for and think about the colors while you are drawing, when most are focusing on a good draw. Real life you don't get to focus on a good draw. It also makes you think about and have to find the colors while presenting the gun. This makes you have to find a target that might not be quite where you thought it was and be particular about your target among other things that look kinda like targets

Finally, here I am shooting my 1955 built Highway Patrolman. Those plates at 100 feet are just too easy with this

Had a good time and hope the weather stays mild so we can do it again

Nice! I love outdoor range time. Not a lot of that here in SoCal.
I grew up in SW Pennsylvania. This time of year all the hunters are chomping at the bit for deer season. I kind of miss that.
Hopefully you’ll get more chances to get out before the snow comes. But, shooting in the snow is fun too.

Good times. I got some outdoor range time in two weeks ago. That’s done now.

But there’s an indoor range I can hit up every two weeks where I live. Thank goodness. Didn’t have an indoor range until about 5 years ago.

Nice report. During the winter I have access to an indoor range but my black powder shooting pretty much has to go into hibernation until the spring.

One nice thing about living in Okieland: we can use the outdoor range all year.

It's not always warm, but at least it's not usually under a foot of snow. A temp of 40 degrees is not all that unusual in the winter.
Average temp around T-day is in the low 60s. Unfortunately, it'll be low 40s and wet this year.

Started out shooting at an outdoor range and always loved it, even on those cold winter days!

If old age and retirement have any appeal it’s having plenary of time for recreational activities. Here in New England June thru October it’s twice a week at the gun club out door range, black powder revolvers primarily, November and December it’s indoors at the 50ft range with rim and center fire hand guns.

January tru May it’s In Florida at the county parks department outdoor range with black powder and an occasional rim or center fire hand gun. The trap and sporting clays fields are there also. .

The first half of November here had great weather and I spent a lot of time at the range. Second half was rather nasty and I didn't go at all. I'm hoping for a better December.

It's either the local gun club facilities outdoors or a longer drive in to the sandhills on BLM land. I don't have an indoor range available within a hundred miles.
