I am a gun junkie and decided to use several of my rifles on deer this year. So far I have taken deer with a 338 Federal, 300 WSM and my 6.5 Creedmoor. I have a 243 going out next. The 243 and the 6.5 have high-power scopes and I use them when the deer are hitting the fields. This year they have been in the timber feeding on acorns and the 300 and 338 have been getting the nod until recently. Does anyone else use multiple guns during one season?

I've used three revolvers so far this gun deer season. A 6" 686 in .357, a P.C. 629 Magnum Hunter in .44 mag and a P.C.X-Frame Compensated Hunter in .460. Ain't taken anything yet this year, but all have taken deer in the past. Had the opportunities, just haven't pulled the trigger.

I took my GP100 with me a couple of times but haven't turned it loose on one this year. It is perfect when setting in a bling over a feeder, but this year the acorns have the spotlight. I had a Contender in 7mm TCU that I took a couple of does with. Wish I still had it.

I've sat in my box blind once all year. Too much going on this season, no time. I carried my SKS that time and sat until about 10PM waiting to see if a hog would come along. I'd really rather take a hog. I plan to take my 7mm magnum Savage 110 on an elk hunt next month.

I did hunt bow season with my crossbow opening day only. I've been quite ill and this season has been a wash.

So far a 12 ga Rem 870 slug gun, a Marlin 336 30-30, and a Mossberg 4x4 30-06. I shot two slickheads with the 12 ga so far this year. I have a hunt in January for Sambar, WT, and Axis and will use the Mossberg and probably my Sako L691 300 Wby as a backup.

Monday morning I will have a Marlin 1895 with 300gr HP hand loads depending on the stand I will also have a Handi Rifle in 44mag with 240gr XTP hand loads. I was debating on checking the 50cal CVA Optima V2 with 300gr HP and Blackhorn 209 but I don't have time to mess with that until a few weeks. Muzzle loader doesn't start until Jan 3 anyways. I have to "sight" in both guns tomorrow morning. Had to move eye relief on the Marlin after putting a cheek riser on it and the Handi Rifle got lower rings, so that needs bore sighted and sighted in.

Our seasons are all over the place. Where I live we were in bow season until yesterday, but I killed a doe in one of the zones south of here last month with my traditions in-line. Gun 1 started yesterday until Sunday, then back to archery. Mrs. Fl- NC will try to take a doe Sat or Sun with the Ruger American 300 BLK suppressed, then I will be back to X-bow for a week, then back to NW Fl muzzleloader for a week, then gun season mid Dec until some time in Feb, during which I will be using my 243. Then, back to the muzzle loader until March. What it is going to come down to is 2 more does and 1 buck- once that has been accomplished, we will be done for the year. Not killing more than we can eat.

Sure. Every season. We're three months into the season now and I haven't had time to hunt deer yet, fortunately it won't end until mid-February. If everything goes as usual, a couple of stand hunts with a .308 AR, driven hunts with either a Benelli M3 slug gun, Remington 7600 or Marlin lever, and some stalking with a Ruger Mini/Deerfield. Choosing a perfect tool for the job at hand is half the fun.

2...3 if you count the .41 wheelgun I carry while doing camp things that do not go well with a slung rifle over my shoulder. I spent a significant amount of time carrying Grandpa's old M99 .300. This rifle has been mostly a safe queen since I inherited it. Optics on it were shot, and I refitted with Marble's iron sights. I did shoot it from time to time just for fun, but optics are pretty much necessary in the cover I hunt now to pick a clear path through the sticks and such. This year I found a vintage Weaver K2.5 with clear optics and a heavy reticle that looks like it belongs on this rifle. Had the opportunity to scope a few does, but was not permitted to shoot them on my property. I also hunted with my primary hunting rifle, "The Death Ray." A Mauser K98 BRNO made action rebarreled to .280 rem with a nice vintage Shilen tube and a RM thumbhole claro stock I fitted and finished myself. The rifle lived up to it's name, dropping a small buck in his tracks with an offhand shot into heavy cover. I carry this rifle for longer shooting on the pipeline I was sitting on, but this deer happened to appear in the timber.

I’ve always considered myself a shooter first and a hunter second. All I could think about before season started was trying to kill a deer with all of my “deer rifles”. So far, I haven’t squeezed off a round in the direction of a deer, but I’ve carried two different rifles afield. It’s turned into a bit of a game with my daughter where she gets to come up with a creative way to decide which rifle we’ll take with us. She loves helping me choose.

0...because Kansas is stupid and it doesn't start until the 4th. They prefer us to use cars and trucks here. :cuss::fire:

I hear ya, nothing for me yet either. I'm set up for ML, but spent that season TDY overseas.

A couple of us are headed west of Hays on Monday and on that trip I'll bring my .270 for sitting over-watching fields in the early AM/Dusk and a little REM M7 in .260 for pushing draws in between sitting spells.

I really wish KS would split up the seasons like they do on post (Ft. Leavenworth) and Ft. Riley. Same number of days, but multiple openers and a better chance of hitting good weather.

So far two revolvers: a BFR in .500 S&W and one in .500 Linebaugh. Nothing with the Linebaugh yet, but killed three deer so far with the .500 S&W.

So far hunted with my home-built AR in .277 wolverine for the timber and river bottoms, switched to my Savage 116 in 30-06 when I headed out west in the open country. No deer have fallen to rifles yet, I’ve got one doe in the freezer and I got her with a crossbow. I plan to take the wolverine out again for the late antlerless season.

Just my .280 I really only have one chance a year to deer hunt, and its on another island, so i usually just take one gun.
Yep. Out here in Idaho, we're allowed one deer per year, and he has to have antlers. Besides that, only about 30% of Idaho deer hunters are successful. With those kind of odds, I think most Idaho deer hunters take the one rifle they have the most confidence in. I know I do.
BTW, I didn't get a deer this year even though I was carrying my trusty 308 Norma Magnum. Better than 60% of Idaho is public land, but the only antlered deer I seen this year were on private land.
Oh well. Next year I'll buy a cow elk tag and a deer tag. I saw several cow elk on public land this year, but didn't have a tag. And this may sound like sour grapes, but elk meat beats deer meat any day of the week.:p
