That is a good deal. It's the extra cylinder that makes it such a bargain. My only reservation is that it's a Pietta rather than an Uberti.

The next thing you need to do is get a cartridge conversion cylinder to go with it (which will cost as much as the gun itself).

Do the cartridge conversion cylinders drop right in without modifying the gun?

Any particular reason why you went with 45acp as opposed to 44 cal. or 45 colt?
Personally, I would choose the conversion cylinder in .45 LC. But .45 ACP would be a choice if you do a lot of reloading in that caliber. Note that only lead bullets are recommended for the conversion cylinder. GI .45 ACP ammo has jacketed bullets, so you can't use surplus ammo in the conversion cylinder.

The other consideration is that .45 ACP headspaces on the mouth of the case. That means the chambers of the cylinder are not bored straight all the way through.

Thanks I was going to order the 1858 remington online until I called and asked about shipping cost. They said the shipping would be between $30 and $35 dollars.

Yep, when I bought the conversion cylinder, I had 45 ACP dies, brass, primers, powder, and an unopened box of 500 185gr LSWC bullets, but nothing in 45 Colt. I wasn't sure how it would work or if I would like it, so I went the cheap route.

Got mine a couple of days ago, well worth it at that price,, now i have a set of twins...

Mac1029: Does yours have a dovetailed front sight?

I was looking at the sale again today and some of the recent comments mention that the 1858s now ship with dovetailed front sights. This would be a big plus.

It sure looks like it from the picture on the EMF site:

Where did you see comments mentioning the dovetailed sight?

Two of the reviews lower on the EMF product page specifically mention it:

“Scotty” on 12/10/19 — “This particular gun had a very fine high external polish and the front sight is dovetailed on the eight inch model like the uberti brand I used to own.” (He also reports a gouge on the underside of the top strap.)

“Jared” on 12/4/19 — “The big difference us that the new revolver has a dovetail front sight.”

It surprised me.

thanks. I talked to a EMF person and indeed the front sight is dovetailed. Did you order the pistol?

I looked to see what else they had on their site and was surprised to see a good price on FMK ar15 lowers too. I didn’t realize EMF was doing anything with modern guns at all but apparently they are.

I just happened to see this and decided to order one a few days ago. Shipping from California to Neuyorkistan ended up at $42. Rip off for sure but still ended up as being a better price Than I have seen in a very long while when you consider there’s no FFL fees.

When I last looked at their website a while back, they also had shorter barrel "sheriff's model" '58's for the same price.
