What's up with this newest, I think, from Kel-tec? The model P17 .22 autoloader handgun.

Of course there are various youtube videos with people doing reviews of varying quality.

Go look at... the usual online places and they all say "allocated", IOW sold out.

So what's up? Production not meeting demand?

When can we expect to see some available either online or at our LGSs?

Maybe after the first of the year?

(I think maybe I kinda want one or two of them...)

Kel tec is notorious for releasing guns that you can't actually buy since they have only made a handful.

I'd guess a year before it can be somewhat easily bought

LoL...no, Kel-Tec is making as many as they can, they're just popular items.

I took the factory tour a few years ago, when the KSG was in high demand.
Along the wall of one of the long hallways, ran a stack of hundreds of
KSG packing boxes, already folded/assembled, ready to accept a completed
shotgun.

Kellegren (owner of Keltec) from what I’ve heard doesn’t borrow money so Keltec is always behind on what gun owners see as a typical volume out of the gate on a new release.

If this is the case, kudos to him; easy to survive regulation or a downturn in the economy when debt free.

so I assume you are not seeing volume of P17’s as it’s a newer release for them. I’m sure they also (like Palmetto) want to release slow and get the products in less consumers hands initially so a recall doesn’t effect a lot of firearms before they can change their production line.

It's not just the usual poor availability: there are no guns, period. I think this time the production is stopped for a redesign. The initial batch was very problematic. At least this is the rumor at KTOG.

I think what Antihero meant is while Keltec is producing hundreds of guns that are in "high demand", someone like Ruger or S&W is producing thousands of guns that are in high demand. That makes Kel Tec's pretty scarce for that first year or so after a new model is launched.

Everyone, thanks for the input.

That's exactly what I mean. I ordered a pmr30 right away and I had to wait many months for it. Someone offered me double what I just paid for it as I was walking out the door of the gun shop too
