Already some impressive responses.

Nightlord40K, was the Arisaka super cheap? Many surplus military rifles were. I know that Lee Harvey Oswald got his Italian Carcano 6.5 mm for only $18.50.
Many Italian rifles were never fired and only dropped once,...
Bought it at the first gunshow I attended after turning 18.......for $14.

My Dad thought I paid too much.:)

Still here, more or less.
First rifle WAS my first shotgun. I upgraded to a used Stevens 24H-DL from Jack's Outlet behind the police station in Anoka, Minnesota.
It was to upgrade my trap-line gun from a Sheridan Blue Streak. I bought a 10-22 the same year but I think later.... Whopping $68 tax included. Sold that thing pretty quick - never did like them much.

In a curious twist, having inherited all the guns when our Ol' Man died, I distributed almost all but kept the Marlin 39 and Colt .32 Pocket Hammerless so in a weird way, those may be my first rifle/auto. Still have those as well.

My first revolver was bought as a Private in the Army in San Angelo, Texas in the form of a Dan Wesson 15.

My first Auto was bought about the same time from a retiring SGM at Goodfellow AFB. Someone had milled all the GI data from it but I carried that around for a LONG time. shooting and just looking at. Eventually, I had a pal at Camp Pendleton who was the MEUSOC Armorer and as they were rebuilding the last of the available parts/guns into the first MEUSOC pistols, I had him run over this one.
He welded-up the thin areas from the grinding and added the MEUSOC upgrades along with an IMI Match slide that I had about a dozen of.

First BB gun was a Daisy Spittin' Image

Todd.
