  • Complete Sig noob joining the darkside! Hey yall, I just recently came across a smoking deal on a LEO trade in red box P320 carry 9mm at CDNN and could not pass it up.
Being in law enforcement in the great state of Georgia for almost 9 years, everyone in and around LE work here are ingrained to choose some form of Glock exclusively as a defensive handgun due to Glock being based in Smyrna. I became intrigued by Sig recently after shooting a P365 and handling a P320 at a local gun shop, so I decided to give Sig a try. I have over the years owned Glocks and M&Ps in the striker fired arena but this is my first Sig.
I plan to conduct a full range review with my new Sig. I have been researching Sig extensively over the past few days and am learning alot. If anyone could enlighten me on anything in particular I should know aboyt the various idiosyncrasies I should know as a new Sig owner it would be greatly appreciated!

Just enjoy it. I have most brands of pistols made including high-end custom guns. The sigs that I have are among the best most reliable that I have.

Being a Red Box gun, I think it would be safe to assume that it has been through the factory upgrade.

You didn't mention which slide/frame size you bought, but it it was the FS you might find the recoil spring a little stiff. A common modification is the change the guide rod and use 1911 springs to tune it for the ammo you plan to use.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when reassembling the gun after stripping for cleaning, but sure to use the slide stop lever to lock the slide to the rear before rotating the take down lever into position.

The great thing about the P320 platform is that you can mix-n-match different sizes of slides and frames to fit your desires. If you get a chance, you should try on of the "X-series" frames...it really changes the "feel" of the gun

The Sig 320 seems to get traded in a lot. I think it may be the Military Curse. I remember that happening with the Beretta 92 as well.

Ive chosen glock since I was old enough to carry. There wasn't many options back then and the 26/27 was the top of the heap. I do have two cpo 320 and all the classic DA/SA Sigs. I prefer their classic lines to any other DA/SA gun. The 22x series is just a great feeling design. And almost all of them are incredibly accurate. I have 220 and 226s that rival my hunting revolvers accuracy out to their usable range limits.

Main thing that is different from the Glock is takedown. Otherwise the Glocks, M&P, XD, 320 etc are all interchangeable to me. Stick them in a barrel and pull one out and I'd be fine with whichever.

Sig will charge a 55 dollar shipping if anything is wrong after one year (3 years on non-CPO guns) so make sure there is no issue before then . Smith nor Glock will charge. No idea about Springfield. Both my CPO 320s had the "voluntary upgrade" to the trigger. Both also have very nice triggers (best I've found in a striker i believe) and shoot very well. Some of the most accurate striker fired guns I've used.

I love my P320 in .45acp! I’ve always been a 1911 fanatic but now my Sig sees more use. Dead nuts accurate and unstoppable in function. No sharp edges to dig into my sides either.

I shoot my 320 9mm better than any other handgun I have. Besides my Shield I have for edc, the 320 made every other striker fired gun in my cabinet pretty much dust-gatherers and off they went.

I love the 320s trigger and it was even better after the upgrade/recall. I have mine put together with a full length slide on a compact frame for concealment. 17 round magazine as a back up. When it goes to the night stand for bump in the night duty it gets a 21 round mag popped it.

I really like mine.

Not seeing that around here. Maybe by those who can't acquire the taste for 'em. The 320 is quite worthy. Good first SIG, then check out the Classic P-series.

No idiosyncrasies, OP, just good triggers, great ergos, above average accuracy and excellent sights

Only thing I can think of is the trigger recall voluntary upgrade to make it drop safe, but if it's red box you're probably ok.

Fully agree. Would be mandatory for me as I do not care for the "base" frame but rather like the XFrame with the beavertail. I also like the flat trigger, but I'm not sure how involved that swap would be

I'm a Sig purist, I prefer their DA/SA hammer fired pistols. You should give one of those a try.

Agreed. I will always think of these when someone says they got a Sig, not so much the 320 or 250 (which are both fine!). 229, 226, 220 amazing.

Just the trigger is fairly easy. The tricky part is detaching and reattaching the trigger return spring...Apex Tactical has the best install video I've seen after looking at about all of them.

If you want to get into changing the sear and related springs, it quickly becomes more involver

I have always been a big fan of the SIG P22X series of DA/SA pistols. Started with a super accurate Browning BDA .45 (a.k.a. SIG P220), then a P226 9mm. (also "borrowed" my brother's P228 for quite a spell!), and now my P229R also in 9mm. (my dedicated HD gun). All have been super reliable, accurate, and comfortable to carry and shoot.
