It is so nice to work at a State University,,,
We get off at Noon today and I have the next 12 days off.

I just purchased close to $600.00 of handgun ammo,,,
I'm hoping to be able to get to the range on some of those days.

It's just me and my two cats,,,
I anticipate a lot of time watching old movies.

I'm going to gut my spare bedroom and turn it into a hobby/gun room,,,
This vacation time will give me the opportunity to get started.

Anyways, I wish you all a happy holiday season,,,

I only get from Christmas till the 2nd. But my brother and nephew are coming out for a feast. I have fresh shrimp coming in Tuesday, I'm supposed to be killing some wild pigs that got in the neighbor's pig pasture. My friend has some crappie that he wants to fry.
So we're smoking pork, make gumbo and frying fish. Then shooting clays.

WooHoo indeed. Enjoy the time.
Back in our working days, twenty two year ago, I’d envy the wife who worked for the school department and got all the school time off. Unpaid of course.
Happy Holidays to all.

Old Dog, this is the first time in 27 years I am not on call for plumbing or heating emergencies over the holidays. Called the other employees and offered to help if they got jammed up with too many calls. I know, I'm just a glutton for punishment for sure.:p At least they were happy to see me at their door on a holiday especially when the heat was out.

It is nice how the holidays fall this year. Typically my boss closes up Christmas Eve until the 2nd but this year is the exception. I am the only employee and my wife had a baby in May so I was off 3 weeks (if I don't come in we are closed by default) then we close the week of 4th of July and so the boss said we're working the 26th & 27th and then the 2nd & 3rd cause that would make 6 weeks closed this year . So two 5 day weekends isn't bad- would have liked the full 2 weeks but I'm not going to complain. I will be shooting on any day my wife is off too, so at least 2 days in the next couple weeks, which is good for me - I get next to no free time typically. I will have earned it after battling a 2 year old and a 7 month old on my own a few days of the break. If you've never tried it before I can tell you, it's extremely easy and very enjoyable with moments of insanity and utter desperation mixed in frequently. But all is well, everybody is healthy, there's cold beer in the fridge and life is very very good.
Happy holidays, friends .

I have been retired for several years - while I do not punch a clock, with Mrs. P still working, I do all the stuff around the house - I'm working harder now than I did when I got paid - BUT I can also pop down to the gun club during a weekday when it's fairly empty and then come and take a nap.....

Every holiday I work, I get enough extra pay to buy a gun. Thanksgiving was worth it! I got Christmas off, but will be working New Year's Day, so, cha-ching.

I get 4 days off next week, but working graveyard shifts, I can't go to bed before 5am, so by the time I wake up, it's nearly dark out. I haven't been shooting since I started this shift.

Have to let is know how the hobby/gun room works out! Always wanted one like that but more or less I'm working out of an unfinished basement!

Bfh-auto I am on my way!! Remind me where I need to go.to get there again please.:D

Sounds like some fun. Just retired this summer and contemplating going back part time as I am a bit boored and can always use some $$$ to fund shooting endeavors.:)
You would be welcome, but you're over 24 hours away...

DANG I was never any good at long range planning for anything (stocking up for reloading was a good mistake though). 24 hours ahead? I tend to stop at every gun store and gravel pit on the way so probably would arrive some time next year! Thanks for the invite though. You all have safe and happy holidays.

I do heating and cooling for a living, but it is suppose to be in the 40's, until Christmas, so will be doing some shooting. Everyone stay safe, over these holidays.

I just retired so I have forever off.

Congrats. Enjoy. We worked long and hard for it. 22 years for me, forever it seems.

I see old/older guys working in HD, Lowe’s or Walmart and wonder if it’s boredom, crappy home life or they need the coin.

Bucket list item. Live long enough to be retired and collect a pension from a company as long as one worked for them. ;)

Enjoy your time off!

I turned 1/3 of my finished attic into a reloading and gun work room. It’s nice to have a dedicated space.

another third is storage. Another third is cat space.

Congrats to you also. I worked as a Machinist / Toolmaker for 47 years.
