I didn't want "porn" in the thread title, since I am not a fan, but something that conveyed lustful feelings seemed appropriate.

My folks are Wintering in Arizona, so I retrieved my finest firearms to give them a good cleaning and didn't want them unattended for 6 months.

My four favorite rifles...

Top pic is a custom .35 Whelen built by Mel Smart of Montana fame, based on a Winchester Model 70 pre-`64 action. Stock is one of his prototype Accubond laminated hardwood stocks.

He has since passed away and the company he founded now markets this as the Kilamanjaro Rifle with prices around $17,000.

I don't take it hunting anymore, lol.

Second one down is an Uberti clone of an 1885 Winchester high wall in .45-70 govt. Has a 31" Badger barrel, which they don't exist anymore. Scope is a period correct 6x. I used this rifle to shoot in BPCR competitions in Arizona and won my class in the state championship in 2008.
Just a very fun rifle to shoot with all of the black powder smoke.

Third rifle was just given to me by my dad a week ago and is a .30-06 Ackley Improved based on another pre-`64 Winchester Model 70 action with a newer XTR Featherweight 22" .308 barrel re-chambered for the new cartridge. Not sure who made the stock, but it is beautiful.

The fourth rifle is the first rifle I was gifted when I was 13yrs old and I used it to take my first elk, my first whitetail buck, and my first Pronghorn antelope.

It's a Winchester Model 70 XTR Featherweight in .257 Roberts. I haven't hunted with it in years, and the Leupold 6X scope that came on it was traded to my brother for some long forgotten rifle years ago. I was actually on Ebay last night trying to find another old glossy Leupold to mount on it.

I'm truly grateful for these rifles, though they are now passe' with all the cool kids now having everything stainless, fluted, composite, and tacti-cool.

But I think they are functional works of art and I hope to pass them on to my grandkids someday, since my son lives in Seattle and is "woke"...

Sorry to hear about your son. Heres a sexy swede to cheer you up. I got bored recently and decided to tru-oil the stock, which Im pretty sure is beech. Its an oddly beautiful stock with all the flaming grain.

I'll play! This is my recently converted 1903 Springfield. It started life with me as a sporterized 30-06. It's now been rebored and refinished as a 35 Whelen. The barrel is not the original military barrel. The stock was on the rifle already. A family member stripped the stock, hand-checkered it, put a tip and cap on with maple spacers, and did a great oil finish. He also jeweled the bolt.

Not "porn" but really sexy...more like "movie stars of yesteryear"!

I hope that mud was accidental. I'd hate to think someone would do that to a rifle on purpose.

It's an AK; it can take it... I've seen people do much worse to various pistols on YouTube. Saw a guy tie a brand new Glock to a rope on the back of his truck and drag it through the desert for a mile or so, then shake it off and shoot it. It's pretty ridiculous.

I've only fired a Swede once. I was at an inter-club match between Boothbay Harbor and Liincoln County ranges. I wasn't a member, but shot at Boothbay Harbor Turkey Shoots, so was invited to shoot for them, so I did. I fired at clays, Centerfire Rifle, Silhouette Handgun, and because the Boothbay Club needed one more shooter for the military rifle match, I was asked if I would shoot.

The only other shooter on our team had a Swede with paper-patched bullets, which I used at the 100 yard targets. I think it was for group size, and the military irons with a raised front sight brought bullet strikes to zero at 100 yds, but had to use the military open rear sight. Anyway, I had some black target pasters that had a hole punched in each one, for handgun shooting, so I put one on my glasses and proceded to shoot the match, which I WON, with about a 1 1/4" 5-shot group in the 100 yard target. I think we shot over a sandbag.

I really enjoyed shooting the Swede, but never shot one before or since that day.

My Uberti 76' in 50-95, and my Ross M-10 sporter in 280 Ross. The Ross has the elegant beauty of rifles from a bygone era, before scopes were popular.

The 76' is a beast. Next to my M-1 in the last pic. It weighs 10 1/2 pounds.

I was a USMC company armorer. Inspected every rifle, pistol, bayonet, ka-bar, M-79, night sight, mortar, M-60, everything - before it was checked into the armory. Those don't look all that dirty to me. They look nice as all get out.
