Xdm 10 mm vs Glock 20

I sold my G20 in anticipation of either a XD or Dan Wesson 10mm though an EAA may yet be in the running - poor man's Bren 10 carries a LOT of cache for me along with the superlative CZ shape.

I distinctly like the ergonomics of the latter three over my old G20. The Glock was a damn fine pistol but I always felt like I was shooting a gun made of smoothed-over Legos.

Todd.

Lone wolf shows part numbers for the slides. They ARE NEVER in stock. Your assertion that I’m full of it is bogus. The only thing that can be found for an aftermarket 20/21 slide is an unfinished blank from LW or a no-name questionable as all get out slide that’s on eBay. If you find a different aftermarket slide then I’m very interested. If you find a Glock slide that’s not almost the price of a complete gun then I’m open to hearing that as well. Lots of factory stuff out there for the 21 as some law enforcement glorious adopted them and they are now coming out as tradein guns, but still not much aftermarket stuff for the 21 either. Again, they list stuff but they don’t have stock. Just like some of the other folks who started development of full size slides and then for some reason they backed out of them.

And yes, I have been in the list waiting for an email on a g20 slide for over a month. No such email has showed up. Last I heard, back ordered with no estimated date in stock at LW.

So again, to reiterate my original point, what aftermarket stuff can you get for the XD 10mm? Specifically, what can you get for it that you can't get for the Glock 20? How many vendors make aftermarket slides for the 10mm XD?

How many vendors sell ANY parts at all for the 10mm XD?

I agree, the large frame Glock ergonomics lived up to the "like holding a 2x4" hyperbole. My G29 SF is tolerable, however.

Give them a very short time and we will start seeing barrels and conversion barrels for the xD. Realistically how much does it take to figure out barrel lug geometry when you can buy a $600 gun and amortize that expense and minimal tooling costs over the first 1000 barrels you sell.

your original point seemed like most folks who assume that because it says glock on it that there are a plethora of parts to pick from which are all readily available. Some stuff yes, but not nearly as much stuff available for large frame. No more than is readily available I expect it to be less than a year before XD parts are just as available as large frame Glock parts. Again... barrels and mags. Nobody is making large frame slides except for Glock anyway it seems because scuttlebutt says LW is dropping the alphawolf large frame slides too.

SOooo... slides aren’t available for either. Aftermarket barrels and mags currently are available for the Glock. Expect aftermarket parts to be ready for the XD pretty soon because it’s truly not Much different in design from a Glock, or S&W, or Sig etc.

I'm a large frame glock guy. I've got a g30 & g20 (dumped my g21) and a small frame g42. The only comment I have is the hilarious addition of gackstraps for the large frame gen 4s. Really? Not freaking big enough for ya? My buddy is a big guy - 6'5" 300# and he has the large backstrap on his g21 but is happy shooting a 1911 too which I feel like is half the grip. I think it's a mental thing, ever hear anyone complain that their g20/21 is just too small of a grip... I have, crazy.

I dont own either but I do own a G17 and G26, and that being said I'd probably go Glock as I've never liked any XD series guns I've handled.

You never mentioned what this would be used for so if you're not opposed to other suggestions I would offer up the Ruger SR1911 in 10mm, which I do own. And she's a sweet shooter.

I have heard some talk of the SR1911 in 10mm not doing well with really hot loads, but it may just be talk.

I have never handled the XD, but I have been carrying a Gen4 G20 every day for the last 3 years and absolutely love the gun. 100% reliable and I can shoot as well or better than any other semi auto that I own, including my CZ.

It does have a very think grip, but it fits my hands well and the recoil is very manageable.

I agree, sweet shooter indeed. Having said that, the 10mm XD-M is on "The List".

My SR1911 has handled everything I've thrown at her from 165 to 200 grainers over lots of Blue Dot without a hitch.

I straddle the fence on combat Tupperware, but I own a Glock 20 because I pair it as a sidearm with my CMMG Banshee which uses the same clips (though I have 25rd sticks for the Banshee).

As such it hasn't seen much use, but it shoots kinda like,... a GLOCK.

I was taught that a pistol is a device that might enable you to get your hands on a real gun.
As such it fills the bill.

I love my XD series Sprungfields... I never could warn up to Glocks. But that is just me.
