Possible New Colt Pythons?

I hope it’s true. I also hope it’s better than the original. I’d love to see the price of the older ones come down.

I love the Garter Snake idea. Great plinking and tacklebox gun
Something along the lines of a S&W 63 (I forget the Colt equivalent of a J-frame), with a 3- barrel and classic panel grips. Choice of blued carbon or stainless steels. 3 inch barrel, fixed or adjustable rear sights, brass bead partridge or fiber optic front sight. Maybe an 8 shot capacity ?

Colt used to make their Cobra in 22 calibre. All of them were 3 inchers with aluminum frames. Thats in the days before stainless, but of course stainless is pretty standard in the industry nowadays

I *think* my aunt has one. Either a Cobra, or the Chiefs Spl in .22LR (forget the Mdl #)

I wonder if the new Python will be built upon the same frame as the Cobra but with different barrels, finishes and grips? Considering the cost for a larger frame it would make sense to get all that Colt can get out of the existing Cobra frame.

So far the Colts haven't been of interest to me, but I was happy to hear they were producing revolvers again. They will never be the same as the old Pythons and such, but that doesn't mean they aren't good. So far I have not seen a new Colt that I felt was worth the price to me

Rumored MSRP is $1500. I'd guess in a year or two after the "gotta have it firsts" get theirs it might be around $1200.

Not unreasonable, apparently internal lockwork is new which could account for a reasonable price with less hand fitting.

Probably just a scaled up cobra. Makes the most sense. If this happens and they do well I would LOVE to see a new anaconda. Have enough 357's , need some more big bores.

I would LOVE to see a new Anaconda!

New King Cobra Target is $1054 at Buds... or would be if they had any.
$1500 is low end for a New Python.

My guess is that it's a high polished Cobra with a vent rib. Maybe a few other nice touches. I'm just parroting what I've seen around and am not touting it as gospel.

This has me pretty interested as I’ve been thinking about getting a range only revolver for target shooting fun, I’ll be real curious to see what it’s like once it’s in the hands of some reviewers.

Very interesting! A bit of the old with the new! Would definitely like to see one up close!

JMO, it's still in 357, yawn... Cylinder release still goes the wrong way. :p For that price ($2500) I could by two 686's and have money left for reloading supplies, lots of supplies. I really doubt this new Python is going to live up to the unrealistic expectations built up over the years by the python fan boys. But then again I am certainly not a fan of Colt revolvers so take that for what it's worth. I will be interested to see if the hold up too heavy use but how many are going to get used rather than just collected..?

New Python lacks the little bump that keeps the extractor from pushing the cylinder off its arbor, common to older Colts and Smiths.
New Cobra doesn't have that bump, either; must have some other cylinder retention.
New Cobra has long cylinder bolt leads, but not THAT long.
Sideplate screw is in proportionally the same location, New Python to New Cobra.
