I don't want a B.A.R, honey
I don't want a B.A.R., baby!
I don't want a B.A.R.
Just give me a date with a candy bar,
Honey, baby mine!

As much as I like Johnny Winter, SRV’s cover of “Boot Hill” is better than Johnny Winter’s original. The slide is what does it for me.

Re: Hendrix’s “Machine Gun”, does anyone here know that Jimi served in the Army? He was 101st Airborne. Not exactly a model trooper, but it did give him an unusual perspective, for a musician...

Mr. Saturday Night Special
Mr. Saturday Night Special, you got a barrel that's a blue and cold.
Ya aint good for nuttin' cept put a man 6' in a hole.
....
Now handguns are made for killin'
They aint no good for nuttin else
And if you like to drink your whiskey
You might even shoot yourself.

Give Me Three Steps
I was a scared and a fearin' for my life
I was shakin' like a leaf on a tree
Cause he was lean and mean and big and bad
while he was pointin' that gun at me.
.....
And I'm telling you, son
Well, it ain't no fun
Staring straight down a forty-four

Funny when I saw this topic the first song to my mind was "Saturday Night Special". Certainly not a pro-gun song but it's what came to mind.

Here we come, reach for your gun
And you better listen well my friend, you see
It's been slow down below,
Aimed at you, we're the cowboys from hell
Deed is done again, we've won
Ain't talking no tall tales friend
Cause high noon, your doom
Comin' for you we're the cowboys from hell

Pantera - Cowboys From Hell

Just for Swamp Rat:

Swampy was a pawn shop man
he knew his business well
He'd loan and buy on everything
and once or twice he'd sell

the man brought in a Remington
to see what Swampy'd pay
"just take a look down yonder bore
I've cleaned it just today

Swampy pulled the action back
then pointed to the door
I never buy form anyone when
bullets hit the floor

Mississippi Saturday Night

Song by Old Crow Medicine Show

Poor mr.?
from up in clarksdale
shot his brother with a pop, pop, pop
spent 20 yrs of hard time, before he saw the light
now he's preaching on the corner of a mississippi saturday night

Drop by the Pawn Shop by the motel
dream all you want, you ain't goin nowhere

ohh ladies in the juke joint, lookin for a fight
Hey they'll hunt you like a rabbit on a mississippi saturday night

Oh, vicksburg, natchez down to crescent city
gulf coast blues oh it sure is a pity
Don't make alot of money, baby that's alright
cuz they make alot of lovin' on a mississippi saturday night

Oh Mr.?
from?
He's having coffee with your mama and your papa
if you're messin with his daughter
you better treat her right
ohhh treat you like a possum on a mississippi saturday night

Carry Me Back to Virginia.

Song by Old Crow Medicine Show

Well I come from the valley, I'm a rebel boy.
Born on the banks of the Shenandoah.
In sixty-one, I went to the war,
To win one for Virginia!
Ya my brother went first and they called me to.
I was green as clover in the morning dew.
So I marched to the drum and I sang to the tune.
Carry me back to Virginia!

… Fire in the cannon, water in the well,
Raced through the valley with a rebel yell.
I learned right quick how to march like hell and affix that bayonet.

… Won't ya carry me back?
Won't ya carry me back?
Carry me back to Virginia.

… With a sword and a saddle,
Powder in the gun.
We thought for a minute our fight was done.
So they lined us up to the metals arm,
And hammered us into the quicksand.
Then they burned that valley in a blaze of fire, …

My favorite is Desperado by Alice Cooper.

I'm a gambler
And I'm a runner
But you knew that
When you lay down

I'm a picture
Of ugly stories
I'm a killer
And I'm a clown

Step into the street by sundown
Step into your last goodbye
You're a target just by living
Twenty dollars will make you die

I wear lace
And I wear black leather
My hands are lightning upon my gun
My shots are clean
And my, my shots are final
My shots are deadly
And when it's done

You're as stiff as my smoking barrel
You're as dead as a desert night
You're a notch
And I'm a legend
You're at peace
And I must hide

Tell me where the hell I'm going
'Let my bones fall in the dust
Can't you hear that ghost that's calling
As my Colt begins to rust
In the dust

I'm a killer
I'm a clown
I'm a priest
That's gone to town

Led Zeppelin - Hats off to Roy Harper

Gave my baby a twenty dollar bill
If that don't get her, I'm sure my shot, shot, shot-gun will
Yeah, I gave my baby a twenty dollar bill
Well if that don't get that woman, I'm sure my shot-gun will
