Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the PKO 45 from Heizer defense. I was looking into it a couple of years ago when production was not ready and was delayed a great deal, maybe 2015. I believe they were finally for sale at the beginning of 2017. I was really interested in the blow back design of a gun chambered for .45 ACP. It reminded me of the old FN pistols from the turn of last century. I think the pistol looks great, but I was never able to read or watch a non sponsored or regular man review of said pistol. None of the LGS I frequent have ever seen one and only one younger guy at a shop had ever heard of it. The price is steep, they can be had for around $750-900. It has a 5rd flush magazine and goofy 7 round extended magazine. It does have a fixed barrel much like the older Walther PPK-PPKs series. Has anyone ever handled one, has anyone ever fired one? I personally love the way gun looks. I would just hate to be the first guy to buy one. ;)

After much hunting, I found one at a good price with the early color scheme, Stainless / Stainless (grey), scored one off of GB! Once in hand I will have some photos and an range report to post! I paid about 75% MSRP.

Definitely a throwback to the FN 1900. If I see one for sale I'll have to think really hard about it...

Glad you found the object of your desire, and would be interested in your impressions after shooting the gun. Years ago, I had the opportunity to shoot a Detonics "Pocket 9", a compact little blowback 9MM. Only a 9MM, but with NASTY recoil. I'd as soon shoot my .454. So I really would be interested in your impressions, especially of recoil.

Just looking at it I think.
Ruger LCP .45 ACP converted to Blowback....

OUCH!

I hope I'm wrong...

I would try and borrow a Springfield XDS for comparison...

Let us know!

FWIW, which may not be much, the XDS handles .45 recoil surprisingly well.

I know, but it's the closest to it in size of the common .45s I can think of. It's kind of hard without a basis of comparison to say what it's like.

I did find a size comparison between a 3" officer's model 1911 and this firearm. Granted a blowback vs a locked breech.

The bore is low that likely helps a bit with muzzle flip. Hard to believe that system is only straight blow back and that there must be more to it. Any small .45 regardless of the system will have a bit of recoil. I see that a lot of the slide mass is high and that should accentuate muzzle flip. I would still prefer a light wt short recoil system in 9mm.
