Happy New Year! Pretty quiet in this locale, but very happy to see another sunrise. I wish for my fellow THRoadies a wonderful 2020 filled with the scent of freshly baked gunpowder, the ringing of metal, and one-hole targets 100 yards downrange.

As soon as midnight came around i heard at least 50 gun shots off over the next 10 minutes.

It sounded like a small arms skirmish kicked off around here starting about 830. I wanted to participate but shooting 38s out of a model 36 into a stump in 35 degree weather wasn't that appealing. I spent several days working on my range this week. For me 2020 is going to be all about shooting guns with my family on Sunday afternoons at my own private range. Heck yes!

On our company facebook page I posted this 12/30/2019:

"We are a gun selling pawnshop. We support the Second Amendment and RTKBA.
That said, if you own a gun, please leave it in safe storage tomorrow night, New Year's Eve. Do not shoot it in the air at midnight.
Contrary to countless movies and television shows, what goes up must come down and that includes bullets.
Please be safe."

Sporadic fireworks began popping about dark.
Shortly after that the staccato pop pop pop of shots started. Continued on and off until I crashed and burned about 11pm. (Yeah, I'm getting old. Okay, got old.)
I saw a lot of ads on television from various LEO departments asking people not to shoot guns but there's apparently a lot of deaf ears out there. Sadly, you hear all too often about innocent folks being killed by stray bullets.
