My Auto 5 is giving light strikes. I got the bolt out and it is indeed very dirty. I'd like to get it apart for a thorough cleaning, but I can't get the firing pin stop pin to move.

Do the locking block and link need to be in a certain position? The manual I downloaded from MGW just says to drive it out.

The Firing Pin Stop Pin has a flat on one end so it’s a tight fit. It’d be best to drive that side out first, but of course there’s no way to know which side it’s on. When I have trouble I put penetrating oil on it, let it soak, and get a bigger hammer. If it still gives you a hard time, flip the bolt around and try from the other side.

Also, one thing that can cause light strikes is a loose Main Spring Screw, which doubles as a strain screw.
It’s worth checking. Along with the tip of the Firing Pin if you ever get it out.

Also use a proper sized tapered starter punch to get the pin moving a millimeters, then switch to a proper size parallel pin punch to complete the removal. Screen Shot 2020-01-02 at 7.39.08 AM.png

The manual does say remove the pin left to right. But that assumes the last guy to put it together did it correctly. If the flat is on the left side it’s going to be tough.

Well, a night's bath in Kroil, followed by a little heat and a BFH have proved unpersuasive. Off to a 'smith I know, who owns a hydraulic press.
