There’s been a lot of interesting discussions about new guns coming out. Lots of fun stuff has been discussed, and a load of serious stuff too.

So let’s just have a little fun here. Post a picture of your favorite 45 ACP, whatever it happens to be. No bashing please. Good natured ribbing and genuine drooling only.

I have three currently but this is my favorite. It’s a Dan Wesson Classic Commander Bobtail. It fits me wonderfully and my hands wrap around it very securely. It shoots straight, it has night sights. The action is smooth, and the trigger is crisp. I like the short barrel too as it feels much more compact for carry to me. I also think it looks great without from cocking serrations, even though they don’t bother me on other guns I own.

What’s your favorite and why?

Whew! Good thing this is a "Favorite .45" thread and not a "1911" thread.... ;)

Not high end by any means but I love my SR 1911 CMD. I've fitted it with an Ed Brown match barrel and replaced the slide stop, thumb safety and magazine release with stainless after-market versions. It is dead reliable, accurate and I've put several thousand rounds through it over the years. The only knock is Ruger shipped these with a MIM front sight and I shot it off twice before I finally installed a machined steel and pinned replacement (and that ain't going anywhere:)). In my hand, the 1911 grip frame just feels right.

Next favorite of mine is my Sig P220. An all-around accurate, reliable and very comfortable to hold and shoot .45 auto pistol.

My most recent .45 is the S&W M&P. Accurate, reliable, but the grip takes some getting used to. Not as "natural feeling" in the hand as my other .45's, but still a pistol I really like. Pic was just before I installed the Apex trigger kit in it.

That happened on my full-size SR1911. There I was at the range, trying to shoot fast, with my brain going "front sight front sight front sight" and then "Wait, what?" I wish I had a photo of my confused look at that moment. Ruger would have been happy to replace it, but not with the fiber optic I wanted, so I stuck a new one on myself.

Before I assembled AR-15's, I assembled a few M1911's. This is my favorite. It has an Olympic frame, Caspian slide (notice no iron sights), a 45 ACP Wilson barrel and a Weigand optical sight mount.

It is not very practical for carry but fun to shoot.

I built the gun in 2002.

I would say I enjoy the lines of my 1911 most. I shoot and carry my Shield .45 the most. However, there is just something about this big barrel brawler of a wheel gun that speaks to me. From its fantastic single action to its innovative clipless design. Not the mlm ost expensive gun or best finish, but I do love this Pitbull.

This is not my photo or gun, but is representative of my favorite .45acp just with less finish wear!

Star Firestar M45.

Star and the company that imported them, Interarms, are gone now. Sure glad I bought four mags back when they were easy to find!

1916 vintage UK surplus. Now has modern cylinder and barrel. Will shoot 45 ACP with moon clips, 45 Win Mag (loaded to 45 Colt Specs) in moon clips, 45 Auto Rim, and 45 Colt.
Put the old timer away and carry this one most of the time now.

Colt Defender 45ACP Or something in a S&W Chief Model 45ACP

For fun and frolic, you need a Model of 1950 45ACP with a spare cylinder for 45 Colt.
