I went to my FLGS today to look at some berretas and CZ 75s. While I was examining a berreta I noticed I could easily remove the locking block when it was at a certain position .
Tried it with another berreta and sure enough it also came out easily when I had the barrel angled at a certain position. The owner said some come out easily and some dont and that's normal. I dont remember them coming out e as daily when I was in the Army. I thought the locking pin and to be removed first to remove these. They were brand new berretas.

So is he right? They can come out that easily and this is normal?

They come out if you hold your mouth just right. I haven’t ever had to remove a pin, but they do typically have to be jiggled just right to escape from the barrel.

I have a 92S, 92FS, and M9, and the locking blocks on all of them usually just fall off while Im cleaning them.

Its kind of a PITA sometimes too, as they dont always want to go back in all that easily. At least not as easily as they fell off.

I recently put a new locking block and barrel assembly in a 92S, same barrel and block as new 92FS. It is a little tighter than the old one, but it wiggles out without removing a pin, but it is snug enough so it doesn't really fall out without intention.

Most of the ones I've owned over the years have blocks that won't come out with the retaining pin in place, but I have run across a few that will. It's not a problem if it does come out as that can't happen once the barrel & block are installed in the pistol. It's just something to keep in mind when you field strip so you don't drop the block if it comes loose from the barrel.

Seems like the "stainless" blocks in "stainless" guns are more likely to stay put. The blued blocks seem more likely to come out.

Thanks for the replies. I thought I was losing my mind with this. Anyways they have them on sale for $499 so I'm gonna go ahead amd buy one. Minus my gift card I figure I'll only be paying about $350 out the door.

The locking block will come out of my Beretta 92FS barrel if you wiggle it just right. What you experienced may not be universal but is pretty normal.

499 for a Beretta 92 of any kind is a fantastic price for a fantastic gun. 350 is like getting a new Ferrari for Chevy money.
