Went to the LGS today strictly to stock up on some primers and bullets but naturally I had to browse the display cases. Now I have absolutely no need for a .380ACP.
Own 4 9mm punybellums which I consider woefully inferior to all the American 38's. but here in the display case is this really neat little stainless Colt Mustang pocket lite. Looks just like my beloved 1911's only in small scale so I bought it. :uhoh:

Nothing wrong with that. I carried one for years and it was my favorite pocket pistol of all time. :)

My only gripes (and they didnt really effect function at all) were the cheesey plastic guide rod and trigger. A stainless rod is an easy upgrde, but changing the trigger is not for the faint of heart or fat of finger.......

Did you pick up some dies and brass for that Mustang as well?

No I didn't get any reloading components for it.
Posted in handloading an inquiry as to whether or not my 38Super dies would work.
I have dies for 9mm punybellum but ammo is cheap and my fingers are to pudgy to work with those scrawny cases.
Not so with the 380, ammo is not cheap so I may have to invest in some reloading stuff and perhaps I could learn to handle the brass with some chopsticks or something.:scrutiny:

Never any problem with the guide rod and the trigger has been great so I wouldn't want to mess with it any. My biggest gripe (if you can call it that), is that just because the gun is so small, doesn't mean that the sights have to be too! Everything else on my Mustang has been perfect, making it my all-time favorite pocket .380!

One thing I'm not crazy about is the gray stainless front sight, anyone have any suggestions on a permanent marker or paint you can use to make it more visable ?

I use testors modeling paints. Paint it white first, then fluorescent orange (or green or whatever you like).

I use a toothpick to apply. You can also try nail polish.

Why white first? Does the Testors hold up well from holster wear?

Olon beat me to it but the white paint gives a solid reflective base coat which enhances the color you put on top of it.

I've always got my eyes open for a Mustang to have Terry Tussey warm over. I pal has one and I never miss an opportunity to ask her to drag it out when we're shooting. A joy to fire.

Todd.

I keep looking at the Sig 938. I just can't help liking that 1911 style Micro 9.

Hate like hell to be in the flight path of a Red Ryder BB gun because I've been there and it hurt.;)
