Dropped this tonight and snapped right at a seam. I know it’s probably a lost cause but worth a try seeing what they can do for me.

I stepped on the door to my Plano tackle box and called them for a replacement door and they sent me one for free , including shipping cost . Even after I told them how it broke . I hope you have the same experience .

It's because of Wolf ammo...
No, wait, it's aftermarket magazines caused that.

On second thought - you probably used grease in cold weather!

Scratch that, it was obviously one of those weirdo calibers like .357 sig, .45 gap or 6.5 crudmore for sure.

Hang on, I enlarged it and I think it was those Geico woodchucks or trash-pandas. YUP, that's the one I'm sticking to!

Or, was it so doggone well camouflaged that you jumped down from your stand and landed on it?

In any case, call this a bump 'cause I really want to follow this one.

And warranty? Why not? I would and if they laughed at me, it might still be worth the humor.

Did you have a fall-back (no pun intended) to cover your hunting with?

Oh, and how's the scope?

Todd.

Man that sucks. Hopefully hey take care of you.

CVA was on my decent gun for the money list. But now idk, looks like they are using some crap metal to brake like that..... I've seen stocks snap, but not a receiver....

That should not have happened. A high resolution pic of the break might reveal some clues.

ohihunter - could you answer a couple of questions? How old is the rifle? How many feet did it drop? What was the air temperature? And, where did the rifle actually hit the ground, under the receiver where it broke or on its side? Did it hit a rock?
I ask as that break almost looks like the receiver was a metal casting for that sharp a break OR it hadn't been properly heat treated. If you know somebody that works with metal that heat treats their work, they may have a "hardness gauge". If you find the metal to be sub-par for a firearm, that might indicate a "manufacturing defect". That's where the age of the gun comes into play as it might still be under warranty. I'm betting it is based on your title. Get the hardness tested, if possible, before contacting CVA as that might make the process easier.
Good luck !
ETA - just saw your post about distance (20') and casting. To have fallen on the scope and not damage it is surprising.

Have you looked through your scope to make sure that it's ok aswell?
Nope. I was with friends so left it on the ground, got back in the tree and watched as 2 doe, 4pt and spike walked 50yards away.

Dang. I dropped my Matthews Switchback XT from every bit of 20 feet one when I fell asleep in my Summit one morning. Hit/landed on the limb and cam, bounced about 10 feet to the side of another tree on the riser, and laid there patiently until I got down. Looked it over, threw my possum arrow on it, drew back ever so gently (didn’t explode), picked out a spot on a tree 20 yards away and let it fly. Hit right where I aimed. Climbed back up, set it back in the bow holder, and killed a doe 30 minutes later.

I am really surprised that gun did that. ESPECIALLY if it landed on the scope.

I know she’s dirty. I put about 10 rounds through it before hunting.
