Looks great! What did you use for the homemade .22 barrel liner and what kind of accuracy are you getting with it?

the barrel liner was made from a old but good stevens rifle barrel from the 40/s or 50/s. it shoots just as accurate as my smith model 17 target. its more accurate than most .22 revolvers. cant do much more for details today as too many visitors but will tomorrow. to see how they load or unload go to the krist conversion site and they will show you how to do it. i didnt like the krist barrel liner so i had my machinest friend make a much better on from the barrel i provided him. i asked him if anyone else was interested in doing the same as i if he would do them a barrel also. he said yes. again she is a tack driver.

some more info. the barrel liner fits so tight that i didnt have to glue it in the barrel. comes out with a wooden dowel easily. i had to hog out the part of the gun where you load and unload. i used a big round file. then wrapped the file in 220 grit, then 2000 grit. then blued with oxpho blue. all else was easy. the barrel i made for it had the same specs as the liner that came with the cylinder. that liner was inadaquate, only about 3 inches long and could have been made better. if anyone wants to do something like this just get a old but good 22 rifle barrel or green mountain sells a 22 barrel blank for 45 dollars. i didnt show it but i have a rod about a foot long i use to push out the spent shells. one could use a wooden dowel or brass rod for that. it takes a little longer to load and empty than a saa but its easy once you get the hang of it. i find the tolerance on the cylinder so tight that you just need to keep it clean. heavier oil can make it not work. just good cleaning when you are done shooting. as to accuracy with my type of barrel liner it could not be more accurate than it is. shoots to point of aim at 15 to 20 yards. i like to judge a revolver if it can take the head of a snake off at 20 yards and this one can with ease. the revolver is not too heavy for me. the weight keeps it steady in the hand. some day in the future i would like to do the same build with a uberti 1857 navy. the kirst converters for .22 fit the pietta/s also. hope everyone enjoyed the post.

shot it today off of the deck at new snow banks. man does it shoot tight. can keep one hole at 15 to 20 yards in the snow.

It is nice fishing up there... But you know you can fish where its warm :)

OK I have been living for this day to make this comment... Snow whats that...???

yes i agree, if you spent a summer on a huge clear water northern minn lake you can never ever get that out of your blood. never. at the north west corner of leech lake their is a river that comes out of the tamerack tree swamp. the water is reddish and clear and clean, the red is from the roots of the tamerack trees. six mile back their. no one fishes it, would love to live long enough to go back their and catch bass that have never seen a fishing lure. minn. is like that. the pan fish are huge in minn. i know how to fish that country, i really know how to pan fish minn. good eating also. as to the winters, you learn how to dress for it and spring always comes on time. the flying squirrels, martins, mink, fishers, otter, bears, moose, wolves, mountain lions huge deer, ect. eagles fish with you. it is as it should be up their. huge fish hawks also fish with you. you can see i love nature.
