Laura Ingraham predicts 2A Sanctuary Movement destined for the US Supreme Court

I agree as many state laws have been overturned by the US Supreme Court.

And just as Heller ruling expanding 2A to individual rights for self defense to the surprise of many, I could see SCOTUS doing the same for 50 state carry and application to "modern" arms such as semi-auto firearms and other modern "arms" devices to help lawful citizens' right to self defense, even for those with physical limitations. To me, modern firearms/technology developments are "reasonable accommodations" for law abiding citizens living less physical lifestyles or actually having physical limitations in terms of strength and dexterity.

I mean, no one disagrees with ADA right?

Why isn't AARP and feminists all over the support of 2A ... I guess because violent crime and rape have been outlawed?

As a Virginia and a victim of two campus shootings (in so called gun free zones) this all really bothers me. As a student of history the actions of a few very bad people who gained control of our state government also bothers me.

Think about it this way. If a man will murder a new born baby. Or even have no problem with someone doing so, what are his values? And what else will he do? He and his allies have already talked about adding more state troopers, using the National Guard and killing power and communication then lied about it when they faced resistance.

Personally, I see all of this as justification for us to exercise the 2nd Amendment for its real reason. To REMOVE tyrants from office when other means fail. The problem is I don’t think we have the will to do so. We clearly have shown we have the means and the manpower to do it.

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not sure what’s going to happen in the next week or so. But our opponents don’t play fair or nice. Tyrants don’t. Our problem is exercising our rights while also having to deal with the court of public opinion not just the law of the land.

I’m hoping and praying that enough Democrats see that the majority of Virginia is literally up in arms against these proposed laws, and that they break ranks from the Governor and AG. Ideally, enough vote against the proposals and we win this round. miracles happen. Look at the last presidential election and how we dodged the Supreme Court having more leftist appointed.

That said, my biggest fear is ANTIFA and others use this to make Charlottesville look like a party and things blow up. At that point, all bets are off and who knows what will happen. But most of it won’t be good. And it may not matter what the laws are.

ANTIFA is nothing more than young (primarily white males, IMHO) people with nothing better to do than create chaos because they are young and dumb and prone to violence because they are bored and don't have jobs. I'm guessing that if you stand up to them, they will quickly go away. Now, the media will paint them as "victims" but the man on the street knows better...

I am seeing Antifa becoming more and more less relevant as their violent methods and behaviors have clearly been revealed and documented for the public. Time after time, peaceful protests have only become violent after Antifa members arrive.

Violent true nature of Antifa

Fall of Antifa: Part 1
Fall of Antifa: Part 2

I have seen statements by Antifa that they are not in favor of gun control. So, on the substance of the gun issue, they appear to be on our side. The newly-elected DSA member of the Virginia legislature, Lee Carter, is also not in favor of gun control to the extent it disarms the "working class." Whether any of these people actually do anything to back up their words is another question.

Antifa may or may not show. If they do, it will be 80 or 90, with (probably) 10K from "our" side. My fear is the extremists--of any sort--who show up looking for a fight. But, that, again, is biased by the numbers. It's really hard for 20 or 25 to start an excallating ruckus in a crown of 10,000 or more.

However, given that the compliant media has decided that all gun owners are "anti-government white supremacists" they will report the event that way, even if no violence even occurs. And instead of being a national wake up call for the Left, it will be suberged as just some hicks from the sticks who ought to be in prison anyway.

Sure, like MS-13 not in favor of gun control or any other criminal organization ... ;)

The 2A Sanctuary Movement is being pushed by law abiding grass roots citizens who are legal gun owners. And the movement's push is for the enforcement of the Second Amendment which the US Supreme Court already expanded to individual's right to self defense under Heller.

Our "civil rights" push to gain the support of the public needs to be lawful and distance ourselves from unlawful groups and entities.

Until Antifa can prove themselves and be accepted by the public as a responsible group instead of a violent hatred group who terrorize others with intimidation and force, they have no place in the 2A Sanctuary Movement.

Vcdl seems to be best at alienating other gun owners tbh. All the bunk about "first step is having a gun on you" and vcdl is sporting empty holsters. And no long guns please. And no Confederate flags please. It seems to be getting dumber and less inclusive as the date nears. A sea of old guys with empty holsters half of whom will be deceased by 2030 promising peaceful serene protests in the streets. No anti Gunner in power that can count well enough to understand demographics will care. It's reached a level where more subversive, yet legal, tactics should be employed. Until then, net effect zero. Might as well man up and get ready to comply since the central theme to the image is "law abiding".

Because VCDL is trying to win the support of the scared public, not the support of other gun owners.

I am for conceal carry AND open carry but also realize there is time and place. Should you conceal carry when you are hunting? Probably a better idea to open carry if you want quick access to your gun. Should you open carry when presence of gun will scare/attract attention of others? Probably a better idea to conceal carry to not attract attention.

Well said
We see it already the MSM is painting us in a bad light.
They already are saying that the 2A sanctuary movement is wrong and that it isn’t justified like sanctuary cities for illegals. To them our rights aren’t as important as their beliefs.

As for ANTIFA I see them as trouble makers and pawns of the leftist leaders

I wouldn't count on them to "quickly go away." I've seen videos of antifa training with firearms. Yeah, okay, they're NOT Seal Team 6 :alien: :p but I would not discount their ability to throw in a wild card and skew things.

I don’t believe anything they say
Thankfully they’re cowards and usually only attack as a pack on individuals they see as easy targets. So defending against them is easier in groups and showing strength.

That said, they’re an awful group that are basically what Marx referred to as the useful idiots. They need to be eliminated. Or at least reduced to a weak one that hatred by the majority, not praised and loved by the MSM and leaders on the left.

Let's hope that's true, there is no place for violence in politics. This isn't some third world country.

Now, get out there and vote pro gun. Call, write, email, change the landscape at the voting booth.

By all means vote to preserve your right to bear arms, but the 2nd amendment was put in place for when voting doesn’t work. In that case you will probably facing police or soldiers. That is why private citizens need AR15s, 30rd magazines, and “weapons of war” to ensure militias are adequately armed.

At least someone gets it.

I guess my question is "At what point does "I will not comply!" take effect? It seems that we continue to concede to various minor and major infringements in the hope of getting "good press" or appearing photogenic and law abiding while the fringe (or really, mainstream) Left can act as they please, time and time again. When the MSM has a vested interest in promoting only one side, you will be waiting for a loooong time to get a nice, rational, and balanced write-up. Sometimes you have to be willing to show a bully that the kid gloves are off and that you aren't going to take it any more... or just continue to comply with all the infringements until they are done using you and there is nothing "left" (see what I did there?)...

This is an interesting legal question. It's a variation of the Nullification Doctrine that was rejected in the lead-up to the Civil War. And that conflict definitely settled the principle of Federal supremacy. Thus, the cities that have declared themselves "sanctuary cities" WRT Federal immigration law are arguably in rebellion against the United States. They have not suffered the fate of Atlanta in 1864 or Richmond in 1865...but they could. By this argument, 2A sanctuary counties are out of line.

On the other hand, 2A sanctuary counties can argue the 14th Amendment. Which extends the protections of the Bill of Rights to the states. Meaning that a 2A sanctuary county can reasonably claim that they are not in rebellion against the state government, they are obeying and upholding their Constitutional duties against a state government that is in violation of them.

Yep. I see Antifa as the same sort of thing, or in the same mold as Hitler's brown shirts. Basically thugs, criminals, goons who are given authority to intimidate the general population with violence (in the Nazis case they intimidated other political parties). The media and the progressive left elites are they brains of this movement, the puppet masters if you will, Antifa is nothing more than a tool to create chaos.

I recommend reading The Rise and the Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany to get a good history lesson and perspective on where this country is heading. It's a helluva good book and I read it as a young man coming out of college. A family friend, a jewish judge who lived in the town I grew up in, loaned me his book to read.

If it got to scotus I suspect the court would not take the case deeming it an internal matter that the states themselves should deal with.

it might be possible to frame it as a 2A issue, but whether local units of government do as they are told by a state is not an issue for the federal courts IMO.

In any case, the precident has long been set that law enforcement and prosecutors have wide discretion on what laws to enforce and how they are enforced. It is not like everyone who speeds gets a ticket nor is everyone charged with a crime prosecuted for it.

When unconstitutional laws are passed by state's legislative branch, it is the SCOTUS who ultimately ENFORCES the Constitution, it's their JOB as intended by the framers - https://www.supremecourt.gov/about/constitutional.aspx

"The [SCOTUS] is the highest tribunal in the Nation for all cases and controversies arising under the Constitution or the laws of the United States. As the final arbiter of the law, the Court is charged with ensuring the American people the promise of equal justice under law and, thereby, also functions as guardian and interpreter of the Constitution."

A few punks that the VA state police can manage easily vs. hundreds (hopefully thousands) of 2A supporters.

Never underestimate an enemy. State police may silently support you individually, but as an org they are a control apparatus for Northam so I suspect if any LE heat comes down it will be on you, not antifa. They generally have put the kids gloves on when dealing with them in the past.
