Looking for gun related anniversary ideas to commemorate a military career. 25 years ago today my son enlisted in the service. Seen his assignments take him all over the globe and here at home. Some anxious moments when we almost lost him in Afghanistan. Thinking about his rank (LTC) insignia on something firearm related. Grips or maybe engraving on something that would be a reminder of the time period he has served. Links or pics of what others have done would be helpful.

Does he have an M1911 or a Beretta M9 already? If so there are a number of custom grips out there that you can get for either gun with branch of service medallions or else have it laser engraved into the grip. A custom wooden display case might also be another way to go with a brass name plate suitably engraved on the lid.

One suggestion, check out Auto Ordnance commemorative series 1911. They make special runs that are military branch themed. They may have something that would fit your son's branch of service or MOS. They are also reasonably priced for such types of pistols.

Thinking along the lines of branch of service (Army) and rank emblem in some combination. He's carried an M9 Beretta, but not the 1911's. Those are options, also considered a plain AR lower and having it CNC engraved.

What does HE like? Does he shoot for fun, and if so what does he grab out of the safe?

If you want to make a meaningful gesture, make sure it suits his preferences.
