As of the last information I have found and understood, Virginia is dropping reciprocity with quite a number of states. However, luckily enough for us Texans they are still going to recognize our LTC’s

At least for the time being, because Governor Abbot is getting a lot of pressure here to openly condemn and send a letter to the Va governor. Maybe he will maybe he won’t. This thread though isn’t mean for that discussion.

My question is this, if I travel to Virginia, and wish to carry one of my semi automatic handguns, that happen to have a threaded barrel, or the the barrel happens to have an integrated muzzle break, thus (as far as I can tell, it’s an AW) will this be allowed or not, assuming they aren’t banned, and only required to register? Will there be a grace period for those who are moving to the state to register their AW’s? (Not that I will love to a blue state)

just wondered or am I going to end up having to carry my 454 when I come to va because it’s not a semi automatic! Lol

This thing about "dropping reciprocity" is in one of the bills that has been introduced (HB 569). So far it hasn't made any headway. Right now, Virginia still has universal reciprocity, that is, it recognizes all other states' carry permits.

Even if HB 569 passes, it won't become effective until July 1st.

You're getting ahead of yourself. We don't know if any AWB will pass, and if it does, what form it will take.

Until a bill has actually passed and is ready to be signed by the governor it can be amended. There’s no way to know what a new law actually requires until the process is done, and the bill has actually become law.
