good situational awareness on the part of smith. watch his eyes follow the gun well before he slaps it away. good pr (public relations) here, imo.

murf

Inserting the mag and returning slide to battery was to add more moves and make it all look cooler for his fans.

Even though it's staged and edited it's probably a good thing. Lots of people will see this and maybe a few will remember one of the gun safety rules.

He should have grabbed the pistol sooner than letting it get chest high! Otherwise anything that brings gun safety to the forefront is much appreciated.

I seem to remember a celebrity getting killed with a prop gun many years ago. I'm sure there are a few.
Jon-Erik Hexum. Put a Model 29 with "5 in one" blanks to his head and pulled the trigger, either thinking it was empty or "They're only blanks!" Either way he was wrong.

Brandon Lee was another. A squib from a dummy round (primer only) had lodged the bullet in the 44 magnum barrel and then in a later scene a blank was used from 10-20 ft which propelled the stuck bullet killing Lee.

Its a pity gun safety don't make it into his movies. Many more people watch Bad Boys than this video (including me); and how many will think that its OK to wave a loaded gun around like Mike Lowry?

I get it - its a movie and not meant to be serious but....

I wouldn’t call that “schools” rather stops gun handler from pointing a pistol at him. If he had told the fellow to always check to see if a firearm is loaded when you pick it up and to never point one at something you are not willing to destroy, that would have been teaching something.

Not too shabby for a gun control Democrat though.

Smith said we are living in a “gun culture.”

“What we’re really talking about in this issue is people walking around the street with guns that can make a decision whether or not they’re going to kill someone, right? And that’s even more difficult, because there’s really no way back from that. This is a gun culture. And it’s painful for me, because I cannot figure out how to be helpful,”

He inadvertently did in his little viral video above, if even one knuckle head learns from it.

.They did a documentary on the chain of events that lead up to that. Crazy stuff
