I weakened and bought a Ruger PC40 carbine about a month ago. I was not impressed with the stock sights and did not fare well trying to adjust them to give me a minute of pop can. My employees had given me a nice gift certificate to Scheel's for Christmas so I bought a Leupold red dot sight for it and finally got to take it out to the range to zero in this weekend. It only took about 10 shots to get it to about a 3" circle at 65 yards and then I started in on the 12 pack of cherry soda I had purchased. It made the morning great fun! I went from being disappointed with the Carbine to happy. It is definitely not up to M1 Carbine accuracy with open sights but with the Red Dot it is definitely capable of a fine day of shooting. I put about 80 rounds of reloads through it without a glitch.

I, too, vote photos.......... Ruger PC Carbines are neat little guns. I have a 9mm version that currently wears a holographic sight and enjoy it a lot. Saw my first PC 40 about a month ago at a gun show on a dealers table. Was gonna take a closer look at it but there were already too many other folks there with the same idea so I just admired it from a distance.

Second request.. what mags is a PC40 set up to run? I'm familiar with what the 9mm version will run - but how about the 40?

The old model PC (Police Carbine) carbine use the Ruger P series pistol mags unless modified. The new PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine, 9mm only at this time I think) model uses the Ruger Security 9 model mag and comes with a replaceable insert to use Glock mags.

There is a new model of the PCC40 (it is being incorrectly referred to in this thread as a PC40). The new model takes either Ruger or Glock magazines just like the 9mm version. Obviously the magazines are not interchangeable between the 9mm and the .40 versions.

Cool, on the Glock .40 mags, which model and capacity? I've only handled the new Ruger carbine - and can't claim it started any fire for me - but a solid .40 carbine would make a pretty fair close quarters defensive item...

Would have to take any capacity I would think. The 27/23/22 all take the same latching system. Since there is no grip to limit the mag by hitting the baseplate like on a pistol I'd have to think either would work. Of course the 15 round G 22 mags are easily obtained for 10 bucks like new police trade ins at the moment so that's what I would use. Glock 23 mags hold 13 and would work. Assuming the mag well doesn't catch the baseplate the G 27 holds 9 or 10 depending on the finger extension. Or the long 22 rounders but they cost more.

The insert on the Ruger PC Carbine models is designed to grab a Ruger or Glock magazine in the same place the Ruger or Glock pistol does (you have to interchange the insert to use the other brand mags). This allows the magazine to hang down below the magwell and also allows any size magazine to be used in the caliber. Glock 10 round mags and larger will fit all day long. I have a bunch of 33 round stick mags for my PC Carbine (9mm) and they do just fine.

I'm old school so do not have a smart phone so I have to take pictures with my camera and then download them to my computer. I will see what I can do.

Pardon me for leaving the third C off of the name of the carbine, I'll try to do better in the future.

The carbine comes with an adapter for the Glock magazines. I already had a Ruger SR40 so I have two spare magazines already. The carbine comes with a 15 round magazine supposedly illegal in Colorado but in the box from a local outdoor store.
