Except Ruger doesn't support the six series any longer. BTW, my LGS has a 4" Security Six for $325 I looked at but the cylinder has more rotational play when locked up than I would accept. I did find a NYCPD 3" Speed Six, 38 spl possibly unfired for $650. I probably paid too much but I'd never find another in that condition. I won't live long enough to wear it out and it shouldn't ever have to have it repaired.
That's too bad. Good about your Speed-Six.

Saiga, sorry to hear you didn't get that revolver but have you looked at any local pawn shops in your area? That GP-100 I mentioned earlier was purchased from a pawn store in 2012. According to the serial number, it was only a year old and the only thing that might be a problem is the gap between the cylinder and the forcing cone. My feeler gauge indicated that it is very close to the MAX spec from Ruger. That allows more pressure to bleed off faster once the bullet is actually in the barrel.
It also means more powder burns on my hands if I get too close the cylinder ! ;)

I'm a sucker for 3" guns. I don't think you paid too much. Maybe top money, but if you are happy with the purchase, then you didn't pay too much. I would not go that high for a 4" but for a 3" and NYCPD stamped, I would probably have pulled the trigger as well. I've never seen one in person. There can't be a hell of a lot of the 3" out there. I'm betting most are owned by former officers and very few are in the civilian market. I say good find!!

Look at the wear where the trigger finger rests against the frame and look at the frame where the middle finger would rub the frame behind the trigger guard. That gun has been shot A LOT!
I have my first handgun, Ruger Security Six bought in spring 1979. I shot it so much with heavy loads the original 6”
barrel was set back the twice then replaced with a 4” barrel. Finally located a very nice 6” barrel about a year ago. It was a constant action pistol and bullseye gun for several years. Good guns are worth keeping in service.
