Nice Marbles article by Steven Dick

Good article. I was thrilled to see Marbles resurrected in the 90's.

I wonder how they're doing now. That dating by reading the washer stacks was BRILLIANT!

I contacted Marbles CS a few years ago when I heard they still honored their forever warranty. I told them I had my grandfathers knife but the stag handle had loosened and needed some minor work. They said they love to get the old ones in and refurbish them at no cost.
I sent them the ideal and a week later they called and asked if I wanted a new leather sheath with it (again no charge). I told them no. Grandpa Luther put his name on every tool that he valued and the original sheath was preferable to me.
Marbles did a nice job on the refurb. The knife had some some hard use and abuse and they couldn’t remove some grinder marks. They said it was circa 1910. Grandpa was born in 1900 but traded for all kinds of interesting things and I remember him having it when we hunted together in the 1960s. Other than pocket knives, it was the only knife he ever had outside of the kitchen. I remember him using it to cut and dig some vines out of his bushes and to dig the rare dandelion out of his near perfect lawn. It wasn’t treated very well but it survives.
I’ll have to figure out what to do with it when I’m done with it...

I found a really beat up Sports Knife at a silent auction this weekend. It has the sheath,(equally beat up..) and 1/2 of the non-metal plastic-ish pommel. The handle leather washers are good though. I guess I hope to clean it up and find a fix for that pommel in the future. That is a small handle but it's kind of a cool little knife. :)
What the heck, it IS a sure nuff Marbles...
