For me, it's the Glock 48. I was a Glock hater when they came out but still bought (and sold) a few, the 17 was too big, the 19 too fat and unwieldy, the 17X was too weird. Read about the 43X, was about to buy it when by miracle either I saw it or the owner showed it to me, the G48. I was amazed at how I had never heard of it before. I never liked the Glock "safety" trigger but my modified Uncle Mike's covers the trigger allowing me to carry 10+1 safely. My 48 is my belt carry, pocket carry, ccw, home defense, car gun (along with my 340 as always).
Months later and I never had buyers remorse over this gun unlike everything else that had some type of specialty application.
The 48 with 2 spare mags is light enough for being well armed yet unencumbered.
Lastly, it's a relatively inexpensive Glock, parts are cheap and even the 48 can be modified for a rail system from Brownell or a Lasermax guide rod laser. I think this gun is a sleeper and more people just haven't discovered it or have convinced themselves that the 19 is as good as it gets but if the 19 folk handle one they may be surprised that those slight differences make a world of difference. 20200113_195034.jpg

Glock did a great job with the 43x and 48 because there seems to be no issues with the 1st year in production, which is rare. I have 700 rounds through a first year 43x and it’s had zero issues. I was hooked because the grip was perfect for a small gun. The more I shoot it the more I liked it.

My Gen 5 MOS G19 is the most perfectly fitting handgun I have ever held.

Happy for you that you love the G48, but I'm happy that the same pistol with 50% more capacity fits me perfectly.

I shot the 43 and the 48 when I lived in Oregon. I wish I would have bought a 48 before moving to California. I really liked the way it handled. I was very impressed with it and shot it very well. Actually, I shot the 43 well also. I have big hands but they both worked for me. I shot an S&W Shield a while back. I found it to be okay but just a bit too narrow for my liking. The 48 just felt better in the hand.

I did end up buying a Glock 26 once I moved but I am really not sure I like it. I do like shooting it with the X-Grip and a G17 magazine and I do shoot it well with the factory magazines. I guess I have a different kind of buyer’s remorse...I regret not buying a G48. ;)

Glad you found a gun that works for you.

Glad you got it figured out.

It does take awhile, but when you hit on the right one, it clicks.

I love my 48, I have some of the Shield Arms 15 round flush fit mags on the way that I hope are reliable as they have shown to be by reviews. It’ll make my 48 have the capacity of a 19 with the slimness that is oh so nice.

glad you like yours, they are sweet, they actually have an ever so slightly longer barrel than a 19 as well.

I considered a Glock 48 when they first came out but I couldn't really find any niche in my life that it filled that my Glock 26 didn't already fill.

If I was starting from nothing I would definitely consider a Glock 48 but already having a Glock 19 it makes more sense to me to go with the 26.

I'm on a budget and the biggest advantage the 26 has for me is the magazine compatablity. I wouldn't have that with the 48 and I really don't have the funds to support another platform.

So while I think it's a great idea it's just not one that works for me.

So Shield mags fit flush and are higher cap? Let us know the results.

OK, thanks for the info, I went to their site, they stagger the rounds somehow.
I actually like single stacks for peace of mind but I've depended on staggered magazines without a hiccup so maybe I'll buy one just to see.

I completely understand, my hands are big enough for the 19 but the dimensions of the 48, though minute make a big difference. Also, both arthritis and a compressed disc make it harder for me to grip guns that were once comfortable. Arthritis in the hand and fingers change abilities I'm sad to report. This actually might be a good gun for someone with a weakened grip.

The 26 is also a 10+1 though it will of course accept 19 and 17 mags but from the above post from our distinguished member <*(((><
the 48 also now has 15 round flush fit mags.
I tried the 26 a few decades ago and the size and weight distribution didn't work for me. On the plus side, a mag extension turns the 26 into a 19X for all purposes.

Glock 26 with a factory 12 round magazine and a 19 reload.

Picture of my cat Mutt just because.

I'm not saying that the Glock 48 is a bad choice. I'm just saying that for me it would be redundant because it doesn't do anything that my glock 26 doesn't already do.

Also for me the fact that it won't accept any other Glock magazine is a deal breaker.

When I buy a gun I buy a bunch of magazines for it and I'm not ready to go down that rabbit hole on another gun especially since, as I stated earlier oh, I already have a gun that fills that space.

All that said though, if it works for you go for it

Congratulations on finding The One. When the G48 first came out, I thought I was going to love it. A G19-sized single stack for cc? What's not to love? Then I shot one a couple of weeks ago. As it turns out, I did not love it.

I like the cat, gives the post a personal touch. I agree with everything you say about the 26, for me the 19 is right because I need that extra grip and basically that extender has just turned your 26 into a 19.

Spats. That's cool, for me the 48 is lighter, less bulky, better balanced and sits deeper in my hand. I think it's a sleeper and definitely going to be very popular within those states with magazine restrictions. Though my state doesn't have one, in its current state it has double the capacity of my Jframe and 40%-45% of my K without the heft and bulk.

Is it reliable?
Will you carry it?
Can you shoot it?

Everything else is nuance.

For some people that might be (within the Glock line) the G42 and for others it might be a G41.

Yes to all 3. Just ordered a pierce grip plug, thinking about a lasermax guide rod laser. Actually still quite difficult to find the right holster so it's still in a modified Uncle Mike's.

Glock 48 fan boy here. I steered away from the more compacts glocks years ago. They felt to me like gripping a section of 2x4. I didn't care for the 43 either. Don't like the short grip frame. I went to carrying a Kahr. Then I discovered the 48. Now I'm back to Glocks for carry. I just scored a couple of the 15 round mags for it. Now I have the 19 that I loved the idea of so many years ago.

I bought my G48 about a month ago. This is the Glock I've been waiting for. I carried Glock 17, 22, 23 as issued duty weapons for 23 years and a G27 as a personal off-duty/BUG but they never were a good fit in my hand and placement of my finger on the trigger wasn't ideal. The G48 is the gun I had hoped Glock would have made while I was on the job. I still have and will continue to carry my Shield but the 48 has it's place as well. I don't see it as being more concealable than the 19 or 23 and for those who can get a good grip on them, I would stay with the 19/23.

I've wasted a lot of money over the past few years buying and trying multiple double stack 9/40 handguns. I'm done now. between the Shield and G48 my needs are met and my money goes to ammo.

I liked the Glock 48 I tried, fit very nicely and seemed like it would be very easy to conceal.

Interestingly enough my two most carried and arguably best shooting (in a CCW standpoint) do not feel all that good in my hands. But they shoot.

Those would be the Glock 19 MOS and the DW Valkyrie CCO (Though that one's discomfort is directly related to the grip panels and could be fixed with new ones I bet but it shoots well and I don't want to mess with what works).

The Glock 48 tempts me. I admire Glocks for their functionality, but the grip and trigger have just never suited me at all. So the plan is to try the Glock 48 and see if it's more of a grip issue, and the Walther PPQ to see if it's a trigger issue. The winner of that is probably getting added to my safe.

As I said above, loving my G48. I've done three things to it that have made it perfect, or as close to perfect as I think I can get. I added "Traction Grips." Like $12 on ebay. They really make the gun stick in your hand but don't grab clothes.

I got a few of the 15 round magazines from Shield Arms. So far so good. No malfunctions.

I got a polymer flat faced trigger from Overwatch Tactical. It was about $60 shipped and came with a gen 3 trigger bar attached. Very nice. All of the gripes that I had about the trigger are gone.

Now I have a Glock with a 1911ish grip. High capacity mags. If I'm stupid enough to get myself into a situation where 30 rounds can't get me out, I was done for anyway. And the complaints about the texturing are fixed.

Many say that they like the G19. So do I, my body just can't accommodate it. I really can't even put into words how much more comfortable the G48 is to carry. I'm 5'4" tall and go about 160lbs. I guess you'd say I have a solid build and the G19 was just uncomfortable to carry with the fitment of my clothing. With the G48, I sometimes forget it's there.

Someone needs to save me from myself.
For some reason a.Walther P99C AS keeps calling to me.

Same gun was calling to me, too. I answered that call and am very happy that I did!

Probably shouldn’t come to a forum full of enablers if you honestly want to be saved from a good purchase...
