Running Kahr MK9, approx 400 rds downrange, factory & handload 124 gr cartridges.
Accuracy is great, but experiencing frequent jams; FTF & FTE. Not riding the slide release or limp-wristing the gun. The slide is difficult FOR ME to rack, so I was thinking of changing to a lighter force recoil spring set (with steel guide rod).
Wolff cautions against too light a spring force, as may damage gun. They offer a spring set that is
2 lbs lighter than factory standard.
Any thoughts or advice. Thanks :)

Maybe your handholds are to light with the 124 grainers and are not able to cycle the action as they should. Have you considered using a different load or a powder that burns slower? This could fix the problem. May try using a 147 grain bullet. One more question if you don't mind and that is did you chrono your loads to see what velocity your shooting the 124 grainers? FTF's and FTE's are normally a magazine issue on semi autos, but in this case it could be your loads not producing the necessary pressure to cycle the action properly to feed and eject, thus the jams.

I'm sure that you did but did you clean and lube the slide if you have more then one magazine mark them just so you know if you have a bad magazine

Are you just now experiencing frequent stoppages, or has it always worked like this?

Always with the same ammo, or all the time regardless?

And I agree on clean, start noticing if it's the magazine. And inspect everything else. Extractor is clean and working, etc.

Thanks for advice. MK9 is clean & lubed (per Kahr lube guide) & magazines check okay. Extraction is good when manually cycling the slide.
Gun jams about every 10th rd, even with various premium factory ammo, including 9mm +P. Handloads near max, per data from Speer, Hornady & Lyman manuals. I am certain of firm grip & thumb away from slide release.
Problem started @ 1st box of ammo, so I figured break-in (300+rds fired) would cure problem. No such luck.
I will try a lighter-force recoil spring kit (includes steel guide rod)from Wolff, which will at least ease racking a bit.

Talk to Kahr, they should be able to fix it, before you start changing the springs, it should still be under warranty with just 400 rounds down the pipe.

Will talk with Kahr before changing recoil spring assy. Gun runs best with hotter loads, so will likely stick with factory standard spring. I do want to install steel guide rod. Thanks for help :)

I know my CW9 would not load a new mag from sling shot method, HAD to be from open slide, and by dropping the release. Slide energy would be less if you swapped to a lighter spring, so don't do that. I suspect Kahr has a geometry issue going on, and every thing needs to be perfect for these thing to load. Your on the right tract, call Kahr.
