I'm looking for a belt holster. I'm sorry if "side holster" is the wrong term.

I bought this gun last year.

Great gun, but the problem is that S&W makes so many M&P variations that it is hard to find a holster that advertises fit for that particular gun if the gun is newer and not super popular.

I usually run a kydex chest holster (2A outdoorsmen) but would like to add a side holster appropriate for woods carry.

Probably one of the cheaper, universal nylon holsters for 4" barrel autos would work. I'd like it to be low enough below the belt that I can get to it with a jacket on, and I'd like the snap or other retention to be relatively easy to release.

An added bonus would be a belt clip that holds pretty well so if I'm wearing a backpack I can clip in on the pack (I'll add appropriate sized webbing to back belt) and when I take the pack off I can clip it onto my pants belt.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Standard surplus M12 military holster. Clips over any belt- no threading it through slots in the holster, which doesn't work with a backpack belt (buckle too big).

EDIT to add: There are also lots of accessories, like a thumb snap to replace the flap, shoulder harness system, leg extender.

The standard size will hold most large autos like the M9 or 1911. I have a G20SF in the one in the picture. Tight fit and had to stretch it a bit, but it works.

$90?! Shouldn't cost more than $20 if you look around for a surplus one.
I wasn't telling him to buy direct from Bianchi - the OP asked what the brand was and you told him it was an M12, which if he had to asked the question in the first place wasn't going to help him figure out who the maker is - I was just answering his question who the maker is - Bianchi.

EDIT to add- The holsters in your second link are not going to work with a backpack- you will not be able to force the buckle through a slot made for a leather belt.
I had not even thought of that and a good point. However, those in the second link are LE duty holsters and are designed for 2.25" belts, not the typical concealment 1.5" belt. I don't know enough about backpacks to know if they'd work. I just threw that link in since I was already at the Safariland/Bianchi sight and thought the OP may find those options useful.

Thanks, guys. I'm pretty handy with a speedy stitcher, so I can make any clip work. If I need to, I'll cut up an old nylon belt and sew a piece of it onto my backpack belt.

You don't think the military is clipping their holsters on do you? ;)

They use something called the Quick-lok or some such. Anyway, very secure, looks like:

Thanks. Yeah, I saw that and used the wrong terminology.

I'll order a holster in a week, but will check back here to see any other suggestions.
